Title: What is the Pheonix MarsLander mission?

The Pheonix mars lander is this going to be like the other Rovers and carry on working till the solar panels or something else stops it from
doing things?

It can't move so I would have thought that it will have studied everything it can reach with its robot arm after a few months. After that it is just a very sophisticated camera platform. Also it is landing north of the martian arctic circle so during the winter there would be no power and it gets down to -140C so it won't keep functioning during the winter. So it will only have a few months rather than years.

thanks for your replies well I do think a set wheels would  be a good idea then you could test several areas because you never hit the right spot the first time
