In the case of my neighbour, the answer is yes. He disappeared from sight and refused visitors. The next time I saw him, a month or two later, he was up and about albeit a bit slow and unsteady. He had gone for acupuncture in additional to the physiotherapy the hospital provided. My colleague was struck with Bells Palsy and when he returned to work, you would not have guessed what hit him. He was completely cured. His acupuncture treatment included electric stimulation. Painful but he is delighted with the results.

It will depend on the severity of the stroke and how quickly it was treated.
Anyone who has even slight stroke like symptoms eg loss of sensation, speech, movement, slurring of speech, should seek medical attention immediately.
A minor stroke with very slight loss of movement might show recovery within a few weeks, but a severe stroke with loss of speech or memory might show improvement but not full recovery.
Treatment with drugs, physiotherapy and retraining can help a great deal, but in general only about 10% of stroke patients recover completely.

Bells Palsy
Bell's palsy is a quite distinct and different manifestation from a stroke. Bell's palsy arises through damage to the facial nerve somewhere along its course between the brainstem and the musculature. A stroke affects the brain substance itself and is damage caused by interruption of blood flow to a brain region, often owing to an embolism, or a bleed into the brain itself.
The prognosis depends upon the severity of the damage and the underlying cause. Preventing further events and management of underlying causes, such as hypertension, is one part of the management. Physiotherapy and re-training to strengthen surviving and collateral neural circuits to bypass the disability is the main symptomatic and functional treatment.

Far as I know, the time of rehabilitation after stroke depends on many factors:
1. Type of stroke,
2. Severity of a stroke,
3. The patient's age
4. Other concomitant diseases,
5. Willingness to cooperate,
6. Communication between the patient and the therapist,
7. Therapy frequency,
8. Therapeutic methods,
9. The time between stroke and first aid.
I read a lot, because I am looking for a good rehabilitation center for my dad.
