Just discovered the use of "N-substituents" and "O-substituents" (wrt alkanes) in some lecture notes. Anyone know what they mean? I'm going to assume they refer to nitrogen and oxygen subtituents, unless anybody can correct me and suggest that they may be notations for EW/ED groups.
