Title: Patterns..they are nice aren't they ?..why ?
Post by: neilep on 18/04/2004 16:11:28

Hmmmm....y'know as I type this I reckon I may have answered my own question with regards to the nature pattern thingy.
Patterns are nice,(why are they nice ?) resplendent in form and structure with squirly things and other decorative qualities.
Do you think stone age man/women/person saw a pattern like a flower or the rings of a tree, or perhaps a rainbow, or water drops in a puddle etc and then thought 'Huh..me um like um thing !..me um doodle thing on wall'.....anyway, who ever elaborated on patterns, or invented them I thank them very much.......but.....in all seriousnous, is there a definitive history of pattern making ?.....is this even a scientific question ?...sorry if it ain't please delete or castigate me accordingly[:D]

zthere was a program that the science channel used to play quite often (back last year when I got cable TV) that was on this very topic.  I can't remember much about it though, other than it was very interesting, and it was narrated by Candice Burgon.  (I guess thats not too helpful)

You should read about design patterns in architecture or software design/engineering.

Patterns come from similarites in difference or difference in similaraties.

I am writing a book called 'In Tune With Intelligence - A Global Strategy'.

It is a philoshopical foundation on which to approach an understanding of artificial intelligence or virtual reality.

I am hoping to discuss some topics on here and have started a thread named after the first chapter - The Truth Behind True And False.

I thought there was a philosophical background to your statements...good luck with the book....and thanks for the tips.
