Title: Are there any maths science radio stations?
Post by: syntheticlight on 31/05/2008 23:40:45
Hey all, i'm asking around a few places the same question:

Is anyone aware of any Radio stations devoted solely to Science (Physics / Maths is my particular interest)? Either online, or the old fashioned way if broadcast in the UK. If i must have a constant drone pounded through my ears it may as well be something of use, eh?

Thanks in advance to anyone with suggestions.

Well, you could download every edition ever made of the Naked Scientists Podcast; there's over 200 hours of audio now, which should keep you entertained for a while!

And I've done just that.[;D] Although Virgin Media are trying to thwart my efforts by throttling me. [:(]

I've even gone as far as buying a new MP3 player to host them all on! [;D]

Cheers

It's not one source, but there should be something there of interest...

You can get your podcast player to queue them up for you... after you get used to the accents, you can probably listen faster than "real time".

PS: Naked Scientists seems to have a significant following in Finland & Greece!

Amazing! And Belgium! We seem to have loyal fans in a lot of places. I would like to see us do a bit better in our own country too though! We need some help with promotion...

Sorry to be so late, Synthetic Light. Have you tried Radio Newark dotorg? Primarily a STEM broadcaster with lots of international news as well.   If you Google 'science radio station' you'll find us. 162 different content sources like the Ontario Science Center, Royal Society of Chemistry, ASC, Nature, Boston Museum of Science, etc.  Radio Newark is 24 hours a day - a focused science radio station. Let me know what you think.
