Could the moon be destroyed?

 I am only looking this up because, a few days ago I had an (out of the blue nightmare) basically the moon exploded! It's been on my mind since... so I'm always looking at the moon now.

What do you think?

Yes.  Meteor strike.  Star death.  Cylons.
