Title: Did we really land on the moon?
Post by: ADD HAHAHA on 06/01/2006 15:38:33
There was this one show that gave several points on how the whole thing could have been faked. Did we really land on the moon?

Of course you landed on the moon. That's why I put it there for my sake !!

I am GOD..You are Not..I don't exist !!

yeah i think the evidence is stunning so i guess we didn't land on the moon. Butt still i find it hard to believe it has all been a big american show maybe it were just the pictures not being real.

Yup, I think the moon landings were real enough. The "evidence" that the pictures were faked is actually based largely on really bad science.
There was a guy who did a cafe scientifique talk in Cambridge writing off the arguments one at a time, and his arguments made a lot more sense than the conspiracy theorists'.

Yes I think it was indeed possible to have landed on the the Moon, however if in 1962/3 it took 7 years, to reach why is it going to take about 10 years today? but surely it could all be done by drone type craft

When have the Conspiracy Theorists ever put up a good cogent/coherent argument?
The Greatest Conspiracy ever was "S11" do you ever hear about that one?
I mean it was planned carried out and now almost forgotten, Guy Fawkes was not as successful.

There are two reasons why we could achieve what we did in the 1960's, but not today.

Firstly, it was pointed out by someone else that in the 1960's we were willing to accept human risks we are not willing to accept today.  In the early days, there were a number of times that rockets blew up on the launch pad, or other accidents took place, that incurred the loss of human life, but did not cause a suspension of the space project in the way that the challenger disaster did.

Secondly, much of the effort in reaching the moon was as much about engineering as about science.  Although there was some new science, much of it was about application of existing science.  As we push the envelope ever further, there is ever more need for a better understanding of new science, and that is time consuming.

The Saturn V was not in principle that different from the V2 of 20 years earlier, but the Saturn V managed to lift 3 people at a time, plus a crude space craft, into space.  As we want to take ever more material ever deeper into space, we needed something more sophisticated than a mere evolution of a 1940's project.

The second area that needed to be developed was the life sciences of long term space survival.  The moon landings had people in space only for a short time, and even then non-one really knew for sure what the risks to the people were.

isnt there a laser reflector placed on the moon by one of the missions that conclusivly prove mans been on the moon?

One of the Appolo's did leave one there; but (if one is going down the road of conspiracy theories) has anyone outside of NASA actually seen it?

Dont they use it to measure the distance between the moon and earth

I've been trying to think of ways how we could use a dead astronaut to measure the distance between the earth and the moon. Can anybody help me so i dont feel so foolish.

However  i meant the laser refector on the moon, maybe in future i should read what i write[:o)]

How To Determine Distances With A Deceased Astronaut

The astronauts final wish was to become a measuring buoy/satellite in space ,and that he should be covered in foil. So, they did this before squeezing him out of the window after the bloke who jumps out from traffic lights cleaned it with dirty water.

Now his bacofoiled body is used to reflect signals between the Earth and Moon and this enables us to determine distances to a very fine tolerance.

If this was to fail then there is an emergency contingency protocol. They also left Turkey Roast (as he has affectionately been called) with two long tape measures. One flick of a switch down here on Earth and his wrists can be made to flick out the tape measures..one towards Earth...the other...towards the Moon.

I CANT READ,MY COLLIE CROSS DOES THE READING FOR ME.
SO WHO WAS THE ASTRONAUT WHO DIED( IVE NEVER HEARD THAT ONE ).
AND WHO LEFT THAT SLOT MACHINE THING THAT WALLACE AND GROMIT FOUND UP THERE.YOU WOULD THINK IN THIS DAY AND AGE ,THEY WOULD TAKE THEIR RUBBISH HOME,SEEMS A SHAME THAT THE FIRST PLANET WE VISIT,GETS LEFT LIKE A STUDENTS FLAT,BET THERES A TRAFFIC CONE UP THERE. [:D] [?]
