Anyone know how large the Giant Squid was that was most recently captured? Anyone seen one?

Oh I think there was an aticle on New Scientist couple of weeks ago. I'll check whether its dimension was mentioned.

Yeah it was in the New Scientist but the issue was actually published in April. The giant squid has a body (or mantle) 2.5 metres long and is still a juvenile. The aricle said, had it been an adult its mantle would have been at least 4 metres long!

Apparently giant squid don;t taste too good - although the squid rings would be th size of tractor tyres, so it's a shame about the taste.

yeuchh !!...squid..is yucky !!..even when cooked proper !!

however....the squid rings ewe mention could in fact be used as spare tractor tyres !!

OH thwarted again..LOL... I was shocked by the name and was not thinking about the date..it isn't that common of a name you know? My friend is a huge science buff and I have invited him and wife to join forum many times as they would be a great asset to our forum..... I do every day at pick up time.. He he and his wife are great! He loves science astonomy and such she is into biology.. I want to say a marine biologist, but I think she deals with other critters I may be off a bit.. I can't remember for sure , they are very nice interesting very bright people with a great little boy... who is close to me heart!

I could not find any measurements on this Giant squid found off the california coast other then they killed it and I think that was the squid in question. but know measurements!
