Judy M asked the Naked Scientists:
Chris:
Regarding your limonene question (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/content/questions/question/2394/) - why can you smell both lemon and orange from limonene?
Judy
What do you think?

Apparently the effect is partly down to chirality. One handedness of the molecule smells of oranges, the other doesn't!
