I like a bit of classical from time to time but normally I just listen to pop. Robbie Williams' songs are quite good.

Don't have one really, I've studied music and now became more open to different styles of music and from different cultures as well. But I really cannot listen to heavy rock metal thing music they do my head in. (https://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmysmilies.creativesell.net%2Fotn%2Fblobs%2Fvuur1.gif&hash=47490589b8835dbf01b48a608e6aeb91)
Certain classical and minimalist music is very good.

U2 they write some great songs.[:)]

I love music and dance.  Some favorites....

Orb
Moby
Loreena McKennitt
Enya
Enigma
Gerry Alfred and the Medicine Beat
Sacred Spirit
Dead Can Dance
Christine Lavin (she's a very funny lady)
Afro Celt Sound System
Sheila Chandra
Jessie Cook
Ottmar Liebert
Maureen McGovern
Amanda McBroom
Lisa Girard
Gabrielle Roth and the Mirrors
Urban Tribe

Okay, so really there's not too many styles of music that I don't like, but am really fond of stuff I can dance to.  With Ecstatic Dance (Gabrielle Roth) you don't need a partner (although it's nice sometimes).

I don't listen to music very often. I hate what my sisters listen to (heavy metal and pop).

My dad loves folk music though, I like listening to what he plays on his guitar.

Am I dead? Am I alive? I'm both!

Just to let you know - if anyone passing through here had planned to go to the Yes Concert in Hyde Park on July 17th - or any of the other Route of Kings concerts (Blue, Yes, Paul Weller, Simply Red, Roxy Music, Jools Holland) - the promoter has gone bust and the gigs are all cancelled.

Marvellous - the one time I had front row seats for a gig too !

That sucks.  We had the same thing happen here 2 years ago but they pulled the plug in the middle of RockFest.  Some friends of mine were in one of the bands and their drummer had flown in from Sweden.  The bands never got paid either.

I've got a pretty wide range of music in my collection. I like what I call 'the new classics' Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Stones. In the 80s, I listened to a lot of punk/alternative like Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs, The Clash. I also love Iggy Pop, Lou Reed and Bowie.

More recently I've been listening to Groove Armada and (shock!) Eminem. I'm also a fan of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. There's heaps more but the list would be very long!!! I really love music.

If you are a Yes fan then you'll get on well with us then, especially Chris, he got me into them! We cant go to see them at Wembley this year as we are in Oz which is a shame... I have been to one of their concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and one at Hammersmith! Tis good that old Rick Wakeman is back, he is a LEGEND!

I used to be a trance fan, but its all gone a bit Pete Tong these days(scuse the terrible pun there). Just majorly into chillout. The latest Zero 7 album is damn good, as is the Air one! Orbital have their new album coming out this year which i just can't wait for... oh and Prodigy have a new ablum out this year too!

I would suugest one album which i bought last year that is quality---> The Music by The Music... Is damn good!

Personally, I think you should cancel your trip to Oz and come to see YES with me !!!

I think we have every Yes album there is to have! I tell you  something that is REALLY funny is Weird Al Yankovitch... not sure if you have heard of him but he takes he p*ss out of songs like eminem and the offspring etc... uses the same tune but puts new lyrics in...

If you could take an MD with you to Wembley for the Yes concert I'd be eternally grateful. Not that I would ever consider sitting 3 rows back from the stage and recording a rock concert on an MD or anything, but I can personally recommend the Sony ECM-MS907 which has produced very favourable results in the past...

Richard, presumably you are going to see Yes play at Braintree in July, since it's about 3 miles from home ?!

http://www.gft-cyclops.co.uk/ and www.cdservices.com are two great resources for Prog rock cd's....espesh GFT...they're very helpful.

To be honest Chris...because of the compression used on a minidisc and from an audiophiles point of view, as a company we very rarely get asked for MD players/recorders...and so I don't actually have one, mind you, I could treat myself to the Sony ECM-MS907 ...hmm..we'll see.....

have you got any of their DVD's Chris and Richard ?.......Symphonic Yes is absolutely fantastic !! House of Blues is brilliant....Keys to Ascension is musically great but horrible picture.........the version of Starhip trooper on the Keys to Ascension CD is the best version I've ever heard....if you haven't got it..get it !!..it's a fantastic recording.

Donnah !!..YAYY ..I saw Keith Emerson in concert only a very short while ago.....truly truly amazing..He was with his band The Nice (before ELP) and then in the second half they did all the ELP classics...absolutely blew me away !!!!...I'd never seen them before...too young when they were first around but oh my !!!....sorry to make you green with envy !!!!

Neil

I have a recording of Wembley (1978 - supposedly the farewell concert !) which in my opinion is one of the best versions of Starship Trooper ever played. A friend told me recently that he has acquired an original revox (big tape) recording of that concert made by Yes themselves which they forgot about. It turned up in a cupboard somewhere. I'll have to ask him if he can copy it for me because the quality is likely to be superior to the recording of the live broadcast on radio 1 that I have !

That concert contains the most amazing medley starting with Time and a Word played into Long Distance Runaround which tips into The Fish over which Jon Anderson then sings Survival. This then morphs into Perpetual Change which runs into the second half of Gates of Delirium and finishes with a wonderful rendition of Soon. The slick transitions from one piece into the next are really impressive. It also co-incides with the era when Rick Wakeman used to drink for England and consume curries on stage, which bizarrely is also when he produced his best work - which just goes to show that curry must be good for something.

I went to Union in 1991 - which was an amazing experience (Trevor Rabin was great) - and have a copy of a low quality bootleg made by some Italian company. It serves to keep the memories alive.

Then I went to Hammersmith in 1998 (twice !) and then 2000 in the Royal Albert Hall. I have a recording of the Albert Hall Performance which is good, but not perfect.

However, the version I have from Yes Symphonic December 2001 (Hammersmith) is perfect. To the untrained ear it is indistinguishable from a desk-originating recording. This contains my favourite all time version of Starship Trooper, largely because the bass solo nearly made the auditorium fly apart. It comes across amazingly on the recording, so long as you have speakers that can do it justice. The versions of Gates of Delirium, Ritual (nous sommes du soleil) and Magnification are spot on.

We went to the Hammersmith concert in July 2003 but had poor seats (Tip : never trust your mum to book seats for something on the internet because when offered seats in the stalls 4 rows from the stage she might inadvertently click on "No thanks, I'd rather sit at the back of the dress circle").

The concert also came across as a bit sloppier than normal (there were a few production screw ups and the music wasn't as tight and together as normal). That said there were a few good highlights. One being when Jon Anderson picked up his guitar to play the opening to a song and, finding it was horribly out of tune, sung the note he wanted, tuned the guitar to that note in about 2 seconds flat, and then started the song. I'm not much of a musician so that kind of thing impresses me enormously !

Another nice aspect was at another point in the concert Jon Anderson announced that he recently "found a tape marked '1972' containing a forgotten song". "I've revised it", he said, and then sang it, accompanying himself on a guitar (in tune this time). I don't think that song has ever been released - correct me if I'm wrong - but it was a really great tune and very catchy. The first line started "Show me a man...".

Anyway, enough rambling. Neil, the Sony ECM microphone I mentioned above is what I use for all of my radio interviews. It's not cheap (90 quid in most outlets - obviously less to you !) but that's reflected in the quality and pick up. I use an old Sharp MD for my recordings because it allows me to manually adjust the record levels. This prevents a sudden loud sound from 'quenching' the record level.

One tip - if you do record the concert don't clap or shout yourself !

Phew !!!...well....what can I say ?...I've neve seen them before so this will by first YES concert !!!....so, the will power to NOT clap or shout (and to control my friend) will be virtually non existant......I would love to record it  but I don't want to compromise my experience and enjoyment while trying to get the best recording level etc etc.

WOW...you are a major YES fan !!........Chris...If I record it...I'll give it a go, if not...then you'll just have to enjoy my description !!! (tee hee)

Have you got the Keys to Ascension cd's?....I have of never heard the 1978 version of Starship Trooper but I really think the Keys one is excellent......oooooh..can't wait, can't wait !!!!!

EEP!!  I'm away for a few days and people start talking about my love in life??!!!  I am such a music junkie you guys have NO IDEA!!  While I have my all time favorites (Metallica, Phish, The Doors, Zepplin, Blind Faith....)  I listen to everytihng from classical to death metal.  I go out and blow half my paycheck on CDs every month.  Its nuts.    Kateley I've been getting into dark, mellow instrumental indie rock.  "Mogwai" is probably my fav band of the moment  (some of you Brit's might know them) also, "Sigur Ros" from Iceland, and "Mono", and "Godspeed you black emperor" <--can't stop listening to them right now.  I'am also really into the emo band "deatrh cab for cutie" lateley; such unique lyrics!!!
Oh geese, its a shame I'm tired, i could talk music for days....  any takers? :)

Oh... I'm curoius if any of you have heard of the band "Low" from what i hear they are hugely popular in europe right now, just wondering if that is true.  They actually opened for Radiohead on their european tuor last summer.  I have a personal attatchment to them as they are form the town that I recently moved from.  One of the bands I used to play with actually recorded a track for a compolation disc thats not out yet, but Al (the main guy from Low) is sgoing to have two tracks on that disc, I'm so thrilled about that!!  If you haven't heard of them you NEED to check them out.  BEAUTIFUL music!!  I recomend their two newest LPs ("Trust" and "Things we lost in the fire")

Ok, I'm all excited now, but I'll shut up!)

Hey neil, soz the music wasnt what you were expecting, i did put a review of them up after i suggested them so you could see what the music was like. I think with your progressive rock side, you'll get to lke it after a few plays, especially Getaway and The Dance! They are quality songs!

Kinda late jumping into this one, but here's what I'm listening to lately:

Tool, A Perfect Circle, Beck, The Pixies, Morphine, Dead Can Dance, Metamorphic (the music of Tool redone in string quartet, best new music I've bought in a long time), Phish, and any band which promotes the legalization and use of recreational marijuana [|)]  <--- (that's the little stoned smiley)  For those of you who think drugs are bad, take all your records, all your CDs, all your tapes and burn them, because chances are every artist that has ever improved your life through their music was RRRRRrrrreallly f-ing high on drugs.

Older favorites that I don't listen to as much but did quite a bit in the past and still love:  Moby, Enigma, The Meat Puppets, Alice in Chains, Keoki, Cibbo Matto, Helmet, Rollins Band/Black Flag, Course of Empire

I despise country, pop, and gangsta rap (some hip hop is decent if it's message isn't about busting caps and stuff).

I saw them in concert last year.  Didn't really trip my trigger live, but they do have wonderful studio-perfection.  I think A LOT of music sounds just like them, but I know that the more you like something the more you are able to pick out its individual intricacies and so you see it as something more unique as other poeple do who aren't as "into" it as you are.  (Hence why your parents think all your music sounds the same)

Good to hear what ya'll are listening to!  Any good (ORIGINAL) local bands where anyone's from?

You reach a certain age where current music stops being interesting.  Out of every single new band that's had a song released on standard "alternative" rock stations in the last 5 years, I've liked approximately 3 of them.  (White Stripes, Cold, and Bowling for Soup)  The rest, while some are mildly tolerable, basically suck.  I'm not sure if music is getting worse or if I'm getting old, but I will say that my brother who is 9 years my elder hates most of the things I listen to.

I think your musical taste is pretty much formed during your preteens through early 20's.  He is into the rock bands of the late 70s, early 80s (Pink Floyd, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc) and I like stuff from the early 90s through late 90s.  (though I must admit I sometimes enjoy a bit of classic rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80s)

Back to studying.  Genetics final tomorrow.  [:0]

Really, I was just joking!  I don't recognize the bands, but I feel younger now than anytime in the past 10 years.  A lot of that is due to a renewed interest in music, mostly classical and instrumental new-age.

Going back to the age of establishing musical tastes, I have a book that discusses the neurological foundations of music and why it has such a profound effect on our brains and our emotions.  The hypothesis is that we can enjoy any type of music, but it is a learned taste.  If you haven't learned to listen to a certain type of music, which involves a LOT of mental processing, then you don't really recognize it as music.  Thus as you get older it gets harder to accept radically different types of music as enjoyable, even though they are just as much "music" as anything else.  It's kind of like learning a new language - the younger you are the easier it is, but music operates in more areas and lower levels of the brain and is even harder still.

I'll have to dig that book out and read it again.

I'm still pushing the wagon uphill, and will be for a while.  I get depressed about it sometimes, but I'll get to the top someday.   I'm ready to cruise, but responsibility overrides.

I think the reason people get older and stuck in the music they listened to when they were young is beacause at some point in their lives they got too busy to keep up with what was new, and when they went back to it later, music had progressed so far that there's too big of a gap from where they left off for them to be able to appreciate it.  you have to listen to music in context of other music, to see where its coming from (although truly great albums can often be enjoyed out of context)  A good example to prove this is the band radiohead.  If anyone is familiar with their discography you can follow along (if you're not WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE PAST 10 YEARS??!! CATCH UP!)  Take soemone who knows Pablo honey and The Bends quite well and enjopys them but has never heard anything else.  if you give them Kid A or Amnesiac all of a sudden, i almost guaruntee you they'll hate it because there is too much of a jump with no context as to where it came from.  But if you give them OK computer they will like that, THEN give them a later album they will have a lot better appreciation for the progression of the band's music.  I thik this same thing happens on a grander scale as people age.  I swear never to let this happen to me!
Another comment is that pop music sucks.  Anything you can readily get your hands on nowadays (thanks to your good friends at the RIAA) sucks.  When we are young we don't notice that it sucks, when we get old we do, but the stuff that was popular when we were younger still sounds good because its so familiar.  I think if more people dug deeper into underground and independent music they'd find more music that they liked from all time periods.

Guess I'm abnormal then.  My son gave me an Evanescense CD (Fallen) and I love it.  No, it's not just because Steve gave it to me.  I love to listen to new stuff.

Some music seems to "tickle" my brain.  It feels like the various sounds stimulate different parts, and what a wonderful sensation it is!

I love to listen to new music.  All I said before was that I've never heard of most of these artists.  That's not saying I don't like them.  I was just in a funk and really living up to my signature.  I'm better now.

And, I agree that current pop music is really pretty lousy - at least what I've heard of it.

Ok.... here's my new daily feature (we'll see how long I keep it up)  "song of the day" by Justin...
I love hearing what other people listen to and checking out the stuff I haven't heard of. (Donnah I haven't been able to find the band you mentioned, but I'm hoping when I go up to Duluth in a week and a half my old friends at the record store up there will help me out)  So I'm going to start giving out musical "asssignments" (I just watched "School of Rock" last night if you can tell) for anyone who's interested.  Some will be things most of you have never heard of, some might be cliassics you haven't dug out for a while.  I'll try to keep things as diverse as possible (thats just how my taste is anyway) so if you don't like something, come back the next day and try again.  If anyone else would like to start a similar thing taht would rock too! Or if anyone checks out any of my songs and has feedback on them I'm always eager to discuss.  Or if no one wants to listen to my crappy taste in music I don't blame you. (p.s.  as I'm very much against illegal downlaoding I'm going to pretened that anyone who might participate in this is getting their music through legal means.  Just do me a personal favor and don't let me know otherwise! :D)

Ok, today's song of the day:  "We looked like Giants" by "Death Cab for Cutie"   ENJOY!

I've just bought a couple of CDs of an Irish Folk band that I saw on TV, now normally FOLK music is NOT what I like but my jaw just dropped at the sounds I was hearing.....this was not conventional FOLK....oh no no no.....you could not get further away from it if you tried......It's Funky, it's jazzy, with dance and bass lines that rock. It's progressive,.....I emailed the show to get the name of the group and they're called KILA....so, I emailed their info line and one of the band members emailed me back....now we're emailing....nice.

Justy...I used to download music all the time...I don't anymore....but one thing that it did make me do was go and buy the original cds !!..from my point of view ...when I used to download, I always treated it as a 'taster'....cos from my perspective the quality was so ****e (due to the compression used and the fact that computers aren't hi fi's) that it was the only way I could prelude a group before buying it. I like to own the original.

I know I know I know that most people just burn it onto cd's and I agree that is wrong...but that's another debate isn't it ?...about the cost of a Cd almost drives people to make illegal copies etc etc

Wish I could check out "We looked like Giants" by "Death Cab for Cutie"....where are they based matey ?

It is wrong to make illegal copies of music, but I doubt the cost has very much to do with it.  I think that if CDs cost $5 instead of $15 there would still be people burning CDs from illegal copies.

I also like to download music to "preview" it (though I don't do it much anymore) and then buy the original if I like it.  I've found several artists that way.

when I do take the occasional guilty pleasure of an illegal song, I verify it by telling myself taht I'm just "smapling" the music and will buy it if I like it (lord knows I buy enough music)  I think that if thats all anyone did the artists and even record companies would not only approve, but pursuade people to do it.  The issue is though that if a band doesn't want you to do it its their right to distribute the music however they see fit.  I get annoyed by people who think that its their "right" to download the music regardless of what the artists think.
Getting off that topic (always one to stir up a good heated debate)... I'm not sure where death cab for cuite" is from neil.  I'm guessing somewhere in the states, but I dunno for sure.  I'll see if I can find out for you.

In celebration of our internet lives being back to normal I would like to add yet another song of the day:

Funny thing is I don't even know the name of this song.  Its off the soundtrack of the film "Vanilla Sky" and it is by the band "Sigur Ros"  (they're from iceland so I figure they're a good middle ground for us if you only have tastes for regional music).  It should be pretty easy to find.  Enjoy.

I finally bought a CD after like 2 years of boycotting the recording industry.  It's a string quartet tribute to Tool.  I was in Barnes and Noble looking for a new book and I noticed the muzak sounded awfully familiar.  I walked into the music department and said to the clerk "Is this what I think it is?"  She grinned at me and held up the CD case, and a sale was made.  It's a niche market, though...not many Tool fans are into string quartets and vice versa.

I have just discovered a classic song which i am surprised i have never heard before but it has muscled itself into my top ten... and quite a way up too! not sure what it has forced out. Underworld are a quality band and alongside Orbital, were the daddies of modern day dance music in the early 90s. I heard a song by them yesterday called "Jumbo" I now have to go out and buy the album because that song BLEW me away! Neil, i'll have to come by the shop and play it on one of the old quality set ups because its amazing!!! check it out!

I could go on for hours and hours about my passion for music........but you just can not dismiss music as boring !!.......music is mind expanding in itself !....it is just as much an art form as any other !.......and it is truely international !....unlike literature which needs to be translated.....music.....is music......and until you have sampled different examples.....you should not dispel music as 'boring'......though I realise and respect that it's your opinion, and perhaps you just do not like music....but I would expect that you just have not heard a musical piece that you like, perhaps next time you are reading one of your mind expanding books, you should have on in the background some Mozart.....or some ambient tunes........you may find your reading experience even more thrilling.......perhaps even to the point where your mind is opened up to the possibility of enjoying music !!

In me......I have never been moved as much, than as when I have been listening to music.......[:)]

lol maybe I should rephrase that, what I meant is the music that is so commonly played, like rap, metal, pop.  Thats the type of music I cant stand, its just people screaming and cursing to me.  I couldnt possible consider those such as Mozart music, they deserves a category of there own, inspiration.  Through my life, music just hasnt been a big thing to me, I can totally understand that others can use it to relax and calm there mind, to me its just been words.  A live concert where unknown people sing, just for the reason to sing, would suit me more.  I could always settle for a book on tape!!

I like eighties soft rock (David Bowie) and pop also alternative. I like some Classical but not much opera, Carmena Burana the exception. I like Gwen Stephanie and does she sing that old song, "It's my life" or something? I liked Red Hot and Blue.

It's interesting that you mention the words.  I too fail to get much of anything out of contemporary metal, rap, and most pop music, but it's because the words are lost on me.  You seem to hear the words and not get much from the music.

In my youth I played in a band and did a lot of classical type music - no vocals.  Even now, I really don't hear the words to a song, unless they are particularly dominant.  Mostly, I just hear the music.  Pure music, especially classical (and some contmporary "new age" and "alternative") is very inspiring to me and definitely affects me at a very low level in my mind.  Opera does absolutely nothing for me, because I can't ever follow the words, and they are usually integrally important to the overall operatic experience.  Basically the same applies for much of the contemporary music where there is lots of background along with the vocals.  The music is mindless and the vocals are lost (and probably mindless too).

This post does not make any sense, but I'm going to toss it up here anyway.

I have to agree John... (and Omni One)...most of todays contemporary stuff is mindless trite and sh*te...and it is so very didfficult to understand what the hell is going on in those 'songs' ('songs' being quite a loose term here)...I suppose you have to know the street speak for all that crap....but....some people might say that what we liked as youths was met with the same contempt !...

To be honest....It is difficult to find any song nowadays  (my humble opinion)where the words really mean anything at all....the voice is there and is being used as an instrument...there are plenty of exceptions of course but generally....I tend to concentrate on the pitch and tone of the actual 'voice' rather than the message. If the lyrics are that good, you'll get the message...

I've never been keen on Opera too....but there's a bloke out there called Russell Watson...self taught, no training and the last few years he has considerably shortened the gap between contemporay and classical/opera...his first album  (funnily enough called 'The Voice') I think is well worth a listen.....he does a fantastic version of Bridge Over Troubled Water.....

I have a couple of contemporary vocal artists that I'm really enjoying now.  One is Eleanor McEvoy (from Ireland) and the other is Sarah McLachlan (from Canada).  I can't say that either is outstandingly inspirational, but they both have nice voices and sing some interesting music.

Yes, I enjoyed Queen, I remember it for sure and some twelve year old faces. I enjoy reminicing. I have that song from Queen and DB on a CD, The Best Of Bowie. I wish I had bought more CDs when I was 15...

Freddy was part Indian so my mother says. Anglo-Indian, like my mum.

I also liked the English band The The. I like 1927... I liked The Psychadelic Furs, but back then I listened to some horrible hard rock and absolutely rotten, horrid punk rock. I have never listened to it since.

I recently bought some Icehouse and Iggy Pop from a library along with Bowie's, Black Tie White Noise. Also The Jesus And Mary Chain and Some Merryl Bainbridge stuff. Oh and Huey Lewis and the News.

What do you think of that haunting soundtrack of Twin Peaks?

I never download....I have to own the original anyway....there was a time when I did download and that was a only as a precursor to buying the CD........and as mentioned before, the compression used in MP3 and other formats sacrifice frequencies that make downloadable tracks seem hollow and void of substance....BUT... in defence of MP3 it is a great for portables like IPods and portable CD players that can can play MP3 encoded discs...the same goes for Minidiscs too...........and now it seems that I'm going to contradict myself, but I have done Dems with people who want to use their Ipod connected to a Hi Fi and I must admit I have been reasonably surprised at how acceptable it is...although....when compared to an original CD ...the diffrences in quality is quite obvious.

There are only 3 kinds of music. - Bad music -Good music & - Great music. Any other labeling seems to limit what you expose yourself to!

Now...,music is the most obvious form of magic in the world today. I won't waste time validating this. Just close your eyes and listen (with all your attention, of course).
With that said, let me point out the implications. Because of the way music (and perhaps all great ART, I'm not sure. Best give that more thought) 'groks' ones bubble of reality/perception many would consider it a spiritual or divine experience. Thus, limiting what you expose yourself to may be a sin!

I've done music all my life (like my father). Over 50 years. I look through tons of garbage and everywhere else for it. Most of what I find falls in the 'good' catagory. More and more these days.., into the 'bad'. But always, the 'great' stuff turns up right when & where it takes my life where I am traveling to anyway.
I'm rambling, huh?
Sorry, reading your topic discussion tonight prompted me to dig up (and play) my copy of "Gates of Delerium". Oh Heaven and bliss! Now it's "Close to the Edge" here!

There is 'great' music out there that you have'nt heard yet. Seek it out. It'll be worth it.
My personal favorites...this week is "The Mars Volta". I will listen to "Francis The Mute" until I know it intimitely. Last week it was Tori Amos and Jimmy's Chicken Shack.

Like Neil, I don't like MP3, and all things being equal, I'd prefer to own the original (although I have no scruples about making copies for private use, and would never use originals in the car, just in case they get lost).

The types of music I would listen to depends often on the quality of reproduction.  Much middle of the road music is fairly undemanding of the system it is played through, but at the other extreme, it is pretty much impossible for any recording to give justice to a live organ recital.  Even some rock music that would normally make me cringe, I have heard of good quality equipment (when not set at a volume designed to ensure premature deafness) and was surprised to hear things in the music that had been totally lost when played on lesser equipment.

Ofcourse, taste also depends on mood, and as with many things, have changed as I have grown older (although some of this is also because in my younger years I had simply been listening on inferior equipment and have reappraised the music as I had the opportunity to listen on better equipment).
