Title: ?aerial tv signal amplification?

does it make a diff if i amplify the signal @ the antenna or @ the tv? i have 100' of cable & am amplifying @ the tv but some signals fade dependent on weather, i guess.

In theory, it should be slightly better to amplify closer to the antenna because you won't be amplifying the noise introduced by the cable. However, a lot will depend on the quality of the cables and their length. If it's a very long cable, a mast head amp is a good way to go.

If the signal is poor though, it's probably not going to do much to fix it. If you have a small TV, try moving it close to the antenna with a short cable. What you see will be the best case. If it's still not good, amplifiers won't help. You might improve the signal with a bigger antenna, but don't expect too much.

For TV reception the height of the antenna is the most important factor, if you cannot get enough height to get a clean signal it some times helps to move the antenna sideways a little.
increasing the number of elements above 18 or so has little effect, some times fewer is better.
Amplifiers will compensate for cable loses or substandard receivers but won't work miracles.
Have you considered satellite reception ?
