Title: Car crash but we're ok - sort of
Post by: DoctorBeaver on 01/10/2007 19:39:19
Silly bugger tried turning right in front of us today - grrrrr at him!

We were in Sandra's new Peugeot 206 with her driving. As we got to a crossroads with traffic light control, some r-sole coming towards us decided to turn right. Sandra had no chance of stopping and there was a vehicular crunch.

Whole offside front wing has gone kaput along with the bonnet (hood in the U.S.), front panel & headlight.

We all felt ok afterwards but later this afternoon Sandra started getting a pain in her neck (no, it wasn't me!  [:(!] ) and pins & needles in her arm. I despatched her to the hospital by cab to get it checked out while I stayed here and murdered the brats. The brats were in the car with us but they're both fine.

Sandra phoned me a while ago & said she was on her way home from hospital. When she gives me the news I'll update this post.

Thanks for your good wishes.

They had Sandra strapped to the bed at the hospital (she likes that sort of thing anyway) because they were worried about the pins & needles in her arm. She put her fearsome head on & demanded to be released (that's a first!) but she had to promise to go back to the hospital if the pins & needles haven't gone by tomorrow lunchtime(ish).

LOL LOL!!! Well I am glad they released her.. It is better to enjoy the straps of LUFF at home rather then in the hospital!LOL LOL

Seriously Glad to see her home.. Glad you are keeping a good eye on her! Just make sure she is nice and secure so those pins and needles stay away! LOL!

Thanks, Neil.

We probably only collided at about 15-20mph, but it was still quite a jolt.

Wish Sandra a super-quick recovery!
These things happen, unfortunately.
Tomorrow it will be much better Dr.Beaver...

Indeed, you have my sympathies.  The human body was not designed for 15mph impacts - but as Iko says, it happens (maybe even more often in Italy [:D]).

I've often wondered how Italians manage to steer cars. They constantly have 1 hand on the horn and the other waving out of the window.

Personally, I think Sandra did it deliberately. We are due to take the lounge carpet up today and this gives her a good excuse not to help me  [:(!]

It's done.

However, my neck & back are starting to ache today & my neck is quite stiff so I'm off to the hospital to get checked out later.

This is not correct.
I mean, not anymore...these days we use one hand to wave out of the window, one hand to hold the cellphone, and with the other...no, actually we use our knees to steer and push the horn! [;D]

Joking.
Seriously I must say that most italians buckle up these days.
And this is great, especially now with airbags giving a 160Km/h punch to your skull!!!
I ride bikes: no airbag for me.  I can live without a bomb right under my nose!

Ouch.  I'm sorry.

I don't know if it's the same, but my daughter was injured a long time ago after having an accident on her bike.  Her face hit the ground and her head bounced up really hard.  Years later we found out that it did cause some damage to her spinal cord in the neck area.  Instead of it growing in kind of a "C" shape it was like a backwards "C".  He told her some things to do at home to try and "re-train" the growth, but she may need surgery too.

She's fine, thanks.  She does have neck pain from time to time and her recent car accident didn't help.

Please let us know if you decide to have surgery.  Hope you both heal quickly!

I don't think it's a case of deciding. From the way the doc spoke today, it's essential.
