Title: What is the structure and function of DNA and RNA in a Chameleon?
Post by: thedoc on 21/07/2015 04:50:02
Tiffany Chao  asked the Naked Scientists:

I was wondering whether you could tell me what the structure and function of DNA and RNA are in protein synthesis for chameleons?

What do you think?

You may be thinking of chimeras rather than chameleons

All earthly creatures: chameleons, chimeras, fish, fowl, or good red herring -- even Donald Trump -- handle protein synthesis by the same basic components in the same basic process. You know, ribosomes, mRna, DNA and like that.

I suggest you ask at the library for, "The Genetic Code" by Isaac Asimov. It was written in the 60's but remains a very lucid account of the basic process.
