Title: Is global warming destroying our planet? Or is it something else?
Post by: RickJones on 06/05/2009 22:49:57
Global warming is the "hot topic" in the world today. The subject is endlessly debated on every level.  I feel that the majority of the theory is incorrect.  Throughout our planets history there have been several events that have resulted in mass extinction and climate change.  These events are thought to be caused by a large impact on the planet surface (asteroid).  While such an impact is possible, a more rational theory exists.  The earth is in constant motion underground.  These techtonic movements are witnessed frequently via earthquakes.  In recent history there have been several earthquakes that have caused massive damage and loss of life.  There are many scientists who are predicting that a massive earthquake is imminent.  This is where my theory is derived.  Evidence of such movement can easily be observed in continental shift.  The constant change in the planets surface condition proves that underground movement is a forced event, the plates under our surface do not flow they collide.  This friction and impact has changed the planets landscape, climate several times. A large enough earthquake could easily start a chain reaction of seismic events.  Volcanic eruptions would occur on the surface and underwater.  These eruptions release large amounts of sulfer into the atmosphere which can then bond to nitrogen triggering massive climate change.  Massive climate change causes mass extinction.  I feel that the dinosaurs demise was directly caused by this occurance.  It is beleived that the main survivors of the era were species that dwelled underground.  It is possible that living underground sheilded some species from the effects on the surface. The key species that survived were mammals which evolved into humans.  So are humans responsible for global warming?  The answer is no, humans are expediting a natural occurance.  Industrial pollutions and emmisions will change our climate slightly.  The atmosphere is changing over time as a natural progression.  The "human era" will eventually end on this planet despite our best efforts to offset damage to our enviornment.  The earth as a whole is the best example of natural selection there is.  A major seismic event will again take place at an undetermined time.  The core of nature will again take control and the surviving species will evolve and inhabit the planet.  One can only hope that it will be intellegent life.   The earth is always in motion in every way.  The idea that our planet is constantly changing, turning over species and climates and atmospheric conditions is relevant and should be considered.  It stands to reason that in the future, near or far the "human era" on this planet will end at which time the earth will restructure and permit life that can survive in that condition.  I look forward to hearing feedback and ask that you understand my lack of any formal science training whatsoever.  Thank you for reading this -Rick- [???]

What part of the Theory do you believe is incorrect. Global warming will not destroy the planet and i have not read any thoery which believes that it or any of our influences will cause its demise.

The natural systems which govern the earths climate will allways win out against anything we can do  .

The planet will survive with us or without us and continue on until the sun finally cools.

Thank you for the reply!  My main point in the post was perception.  I only hear how global warming is gonna destroy our planet.  My theory is that the earth and the atmosphere are continuosly restructuring themselves.  I feel that massive amounts of sulfur released into the atmosphere mix with nitrogen with toxic results.  For example, if my theory were true then the dinosaurs were poisoned to extinction as were the species before them.  I feel that we will find evidence of other life forms deeper underground as time progresses.  I just feel that we are on the wrong track.  Perhaps we should be more concerned with looking down (underground) than up all the time.  Humans have the technology to stop almost any threat in the sky but are powerless against what lies underneath.  Our atmosphere will be covered in ash and toxic fumes someday.  After the planet is frozen solid for an undetermined time it will again be able to support life.  The planet is simply still recovering gradually from the last event millions of years ago.  So my point is that rising climate temps would naturally occur as the process continues.  Thank you again for your response, I really think this is worth looking into (dna test on dinosaurs).  Please feel free to reply again -Rick- [:D]

I only hear how global warming is gonna destroy our planet.

The essential word in that sentence being OUR. The earth will no doubt survive and creatures and ecosystems will evolve to deal any substantial changes in climate. Human beings however , long ago shirking evolution through the industrious human mind, could well find our lives and societies destroyed.
