Rajendra Panda asked the Naked Scientists:

Dear Sir,

My Blood group is A- and my wife's blood group is O .We are planning to start a family.

Will there be any complication during her pregnancy?

Do we need to visit a doctor before conception?

What do you think?

I believe, tho' I am not a doctor, that if the father is Rh+ and the wife Rh-, and if the foetus inherits the husband's positive rhesus factor, then there can be problems with the mother's immune response to the foetus. But since you say you're Rh- that particular issue won't be a problem for you, whether she's Rh+ or Rh-.
