Hi...
I've had mild tinnitus for a while... not disabling or a real serious problem, but I've noticed something that seems a bit strange and I haven't heard/seen anything about it anywhere yet.....
If my head is straight (looking forward), I have a somewhat high pitched not too loud sound.
But if I then turn my head to look hard left or hard right, the sound changes to a higher pitch and higher volume.
When I turn my head back straight again, it returns to "normal".
Has anyone had this or knows what it means?
Thanks.
Ira

Mine doesn't do that, but it seems that everyone is a little different. Mine changes with my sleep or lack of sleep, and with how well hydrated I am. It also changes with other things that I can't really pin down. But not with position changes.

Tinnitus has a strong psycho-acoustic component, which would explain this. Patients are advised not to focus on it because it often becomes more troublesome if you let it...

I am not sure of your exact diagnosis and tests, but some things I would look at, As I stayed in a holiday in express, would be presence of fluid in the ears and constricted eustation tubes. Now I have had ear problems since I was a kid, back then they used to pierce the eardrum to relieve pressure, so scars on my eardrum exist. Does an antihistamine such as Alka Seltzer plus change things? Now one old Dr. taught me how to hold my nose and blow until my ear popped, does hat help? Often times I could not pop my ear relieve fluid buildup until a half hour after Alka Seltzer Plus, being in a hot steamy shower,, tilting my head and doing one r a a time, trying to be helpful, not hurtful. If I listen hard enough I can hear tinnitus, but most of the times I can ignore it.
