Very interesting and also a very beautiful place to visit!! Only 10% That sounds slike so little. I think that it is sad that more can't be saved. The population certainly must be a factor wouldn't you think?

The population certainly must be a factor wouldn't you think?10% of Brazil's rainforest may not sound much, but if 60% of the country is covered by rainforest, than 10% of the rainforest amounts to 6% of the landarea of the country. What would you suggest 50% of the rainforest be protected - that making 30% of the country a national reserve. Just imagine what would happen to the USA if 30% of the nation was removed from ordinary economic use (cannot farm it, cannot build houses on it - nothing). It is all very well for us foreigners to complain about what Brazil may or may not do with her soil, but we are only tourists in the country, we are not the one's trying to make a living, to keep the wolf from the door, in the country.
