Whats with the huge flurry of Vitamin D posts? Have you just bought shares in Holland & Barrett?

It's because the latest edition of the radio programme and podcast was on vitamin D.

As far i know Vitamin D deficiency can lead to weak bones and allergies and the person become very sensitive, it means that it has something to do with the immunity..

Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble secosteroids. In humans, vitamin D is unique both because it functions as a prohormone and because the body can synthesize it (as vitamin D3) when sun exposure is adequate (hence its nickname, the "sunshine vitamin").
Measures of serum levels (from a vitamin D3 blood test) reflect endogenous synthesis from exposure to sunlight as well as intake from the diet, and it is believed that synthesis may contribute generally to the maintenance of adequate serum concentrations.
It do lead to weak bone and may also cause cancer ,so its always preferable to concern a doctor in case of vitamine D deficience.

Speaking as someone who has a PhD in vitamin D research and who works in science communications, I have to say that I'm not very impressed with the level of explanation in this interview. I feel there are far more straight-forward ways of answering those questions while still being scientifically accurate. However, it is good that the topic is being discussed at all.
