I'm going to have a bath in some essential oils right now.

Should I put on a CD of Mozart's "Eine kleine Spamusik"?

Perhaps you should take a bottle of wine to accompany you during your ablutions and in addition to ‘A Little Night Music’ you should also play ‘Prometheus’, by Franz Liszt. Then you could get well and truly Mozart & Liszt.

You might also try  ‘Every Time You Go Away’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUKBuAkr4Lg), by Paul Young. Always sounded to me like, in the chorus, he was singing ‘Every time you go away, you take a piece of meat with you’. Make SPAM will you Paul.

There are many ways to practice meditation, including guided exercises and special breathing techniques, but part of the experience often includes the burning of incense. Using an <link removed> will give you an aromatic fragrance by purifying the air. An herbal incense can relieve depression and anxiety naturally.

I have heard that poutting drops of essential oils on a baby's pillow or bedsheet will make it sleep longer. Is this true?

I don't know but I can't see how. I might find the smell of honeysuckle relaxing because I associate it with long Summer evenings. But a baby can't have those associations.
On the other hand, you need to remember that these oils are often rather complex mixtures of (at least sometimes) toxic chemicals. Is it a good idea to try?

How do you know the cause of your feeling relaxed? Might the aroma not be affecting something in your brain that makes you feel that way? You may rationalize that it's reminiscent of honeysuckle, but can you be sure there is no physical effect?

There is a bit of very subtle misleading even in the term "essential oils".

It is important to stress that in this context the word "essential" does not mean "important" or "necessary". It simply means that the oils are obtained by a process of distillation -- usually steam distillation. There is a bizarre historical reason for the use of this word in this way, but that is another story!
