Title: Treatment for muscle pain
Post by: melanisz85 on 21/01/2016 06:40:13
Hi all,
I’m an athlete and had met an accident last month. After that accident, I have intense muscle pain and have a strain in my left thigh. I can’t even find a comfortable position for sleeping. I’m not able to run or walk properly and this made me depressed. During my consultation, the doctor had suggested me to have a chiropractic treatment. So I’m planning to get treatment from Oakville chiropractic clinic along with the regular medications and antidepressants. Is chiropractic treatment really safe? Kindly share your experiences.

Sounds like a good case for chiropractic treatment, particularly if it was recommended by a general practitioner. Likely cause is nerve compression due to spinal impact or torsion, and chiropractic manipulation can be very effective.

I've been a chiropractic patient in the past, and now consult for chiropractors (and others) on x-ray and MRI imaging. I'm no fan of ongoing "wellness treatment" but if there are no radiological or other contraindications I'm all in favor of early, acute pain relief by manipulation.

That said, there are dozens of "Oakville chiropractic clinics"  listed. I would beware of anyone who talks about wellness, philosophy, crystals, magnetic bracelets, or continuing care: if you are generally fit and healthy, they should be able to restore full mobility and pain relief with very few treatments, and explain it all with a conventional medical vocabulary.

Beware of antidepressants. Life is crap sometimes (especially if you have a back injury) and you have every right to be annoyed about it.

Sounds like a good case for chiropractic treatment ...

As a specific clinic is mentioned by the 1st time poster, it sounds more like advertisement.

Except that (a) there are at least 20 different clinics with the same name, in at least 6 different Oakvilles and 3 different countries and (b) the poster intends to continue with pharmaceutical treatment and has asked whether chiropractic treatment is safe - a very unusual way of promoting a nonpharmaceutical therapy!

Suppose I had replied "Speaking as a Nobel laureate in neurology with hundreds of publications on the subject, for God's sake don't go to those hamfisted morons at Oakville. Chiropractic at best can cripple you and that particular bunch of charlatans even have their own mortuary. Load yourself with Prozac and walk along the bus lane - it's a lot safer and just as effective." I rather think such a reply could have negated any intended promotion, and in an open forum like this, it just isn't worth the gamble!

The reply from their sock-puppet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_%28Internet%29) alter-ego will narrow-the-field if required , e.g.
" I saw Dr Surname at that clinic , they cured my problem , I recommend them highly ".

It was unnecessary for the OP to include the name of a specific clinic in a general question as to the safety / efficacy of chiropractic treatment.

Too many "ifs", she hasn't named a specific clinic, anyone wanting to advertise chiropractic would start by abandoning pharmaceuticals, no sock puppet reply to date....

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but advertising isn't generally about subtlety, and individual chiropractors are perfectly capable of promoting themselves up-front within their catchment area: it's about fly fishing in your pond, not trawling the Atlantic for patients!

As I've given the game away they're unlikely to bother with a sock-puppet reply.

If they mange to post a link in any forum, (on any continent),  it increases the Google Rank (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlink#Search_engine_rankings) , so their company will be more likely to be seen in Google searches in countries where their product/service is available.
