That sounds very complicated. What can we take from it for our modern complicated and stressful lives? Consider the Inca post runners. What did they fuel up with for running through the Andes?

Here is the wikipedia discussion of Quinoa's nutritional features, "Quinoa was of great nutritional importance in pre-Columbian Andean civilizations, being secondary only to the potato, and was followed in importance by maize. In contemporary times, this crop has become highly appreciated for its nutritional value, as its protein content is very high (12%–18%). Unlike wheat or rice (which are low in lysine), quinoa contains a balanced set of essential amino acids for humans, making it an unusually complete protein source among plant foods.[5] It is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. Quinoa is gluten-free and considered easy to digest. Because of all these characteristics, quinoa is being considered a possible crop in NASA's Controlled Ecological Life Support System for long-duration manned spaceflights.[5]

So high quality protein, gluten free, and cheap..and simple to fix!

In a wok, Saute some shallots until they are limp. Bring 2 ups of chicken broth to a boil and add 1 cup of pre-washed Quinoa grain. Stir, reduce heat to low and simmer covered for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and go talk to your girl friend for about 20 minutes. Then fluff with a fork and serve it up.

Very filling and relatively cheap. I feel ready for my 12 hour shift on the space station.

Great program--the single theme works well for TNS. I was hoping the interviewer would ask what foods are considered "anti-inflammatory."

I agree that Meera did a great show, but that should remain an exception as we are missing all the latest news and what if you have no interest in cycling? No, the show is best with say a main topic but with lots of other news items and oddball topics.
