It's obvious that the first pic is an American fake. In the UK we know that Ceylon is called Sri Lanka now.

I have an old Magazine a Saturday evening Post that depicts a Norman Rockwell, couple at breakfast,that I love... I have the whole magazine framed in my kitchen a friend bought it for me it was great!

Here is the one only mine is the whole magazine not the plate!

Its called, "Breakfast Conversation" by Norman Rockwell.

It was certainly acceptable, considered smart even, when I was at school in the late '50s - my headmaster did that and senior prefects were allowed to as well.
