Title: DO YOU CHANGE YOUR OIL YOURSELF?
Post by: Karen W. on 30/07/2007 03:36:02
Neily you just get an oil pan slide under your car take out the oil plug and allow oil to drain out into pan.. LOL then put plug back in good and tight. Then take off your oil filter making sure you bought an oil filter wrench..turn it counterclockwise to loosen it.. Then take it off put new one in it's place and turn it clockwise and re-tighten! Then slide out, open oil cap and pour 4 to 6 quarts whatever brings oil back up to the proper mark! Once you have finished, slide a piece of cardboard under the oil drain valve and new filter, and allow it to set for a few moments.. if you have a leak your cardboard will spot it. Oh by the way once you have it changed the filter, wipe everything off with a grease rag so you will see if you have a real leak and not, or if you just have just a drip from changing it. You can use the cardboard when you slide under the car to catch drips so they don't stain your drive way!

Wow it is over thirty dollars here to have your oil changed..  the oil alone for good quality is about $3.00 a quart here so that alone is 15 to 18 dollars and then the oil filter and then the the labor and they try to sell it as a package deal!

LOL.. ERMMM I think it sucks! Not you but the policy as then it just puts women more at a disadvantage and not being treated equally.. If they can offer this price to a women that can't, or doesn't want to do the job herself it makes it mighty unfair to the man like Neily here who can't, or doesn't want to do it it himself.. It is a car the price should be the same regardless to the sex of the driver!....That would make me crazy.... as a matter of fact it does make me crazy! Isn't that illegal..???

it's not that i don't think women are valuable... there are just things that we are not designed to do. i don't know. i can do six things at once and keep eight people's schedules straight, but i look in a car and i'm totally lost. most men aren't... i should shut up now

You will also find specialist insurance companies who offer car insurance specifically for women.

Why should a man have to find a women, or vice versa to take his car in to receive a discount?

NO YOU SHOULD NOT SHUT UP BECAUSE YOU HAVE AN OPINION!!! I AM PROUD OF YOU, BECAUSE YOU SAID HOW YOU FEEL! THAT IS GREAT! IN MY HUMBLE OPINION!

I agree there are some things that some women can't do, that a man has the physical ability and or stamina to do...Just as there are things women can do more readily then most men, but this is a service being offered for a car...Just because a man does not work on a car , he should not be penalized.. Neily Knows I was only giving him a hard time.. LOL

I do not think it is fair or proper to say that because you are a women you can have a discount or you can't! Same for a man!

I have always done my best to do things myself, I do admit when I can't. but I may choose for whatever reason to take my car in and if this person knows I can do it myself and charged me more because I chose to not do it when they asssumed because I could that I should or be penalized...errrrgh no that would make me mad!

yes but karen... then you get into lady's night at bars and restaurants, why the guy at the gas station never takes change from me, and why if you or i were on the side of the road with our car broken someone would be ten times more likely to stop and see if we need help than if a man was. we can do most of this stuff ourselves, but isn't it nice to know that we get some special deals for having to put up with cramps and childbirth?

I posted my dad changes the oil in all of our cars (like 5), trucks (2), boat, motorcycle, lawn mower, go kart, tiller, log spilter, and a few others. LoL. Lots of Oil. Dad buys junk cars (need motor or trany) then fix them up for a 1,600 dollar profit each. LoL.

LOL LOL LOL...Not special deals but respect but no more then I give any other human being and I expect to be treated the same way.. I don't demand it but I think mutual respect and courtesy should go both ways.. of course we cannot all do the same things physically or the same as the opposite sex.. but that is a physical thing. I think respect and equality should go both ways. I think it is kind for a man to open a door as well as a women to offer the same and I think people should receive such things from each other weather they are male or female..LOL

As far as childbirth that is the physical make up of the male and the female.. I respect my husband supplying the seed which gave me my children and he deserved just as much pampering as a new father as I did as a new mother. I wanted to carry my children I would carry 10 more.. because I love children.. lOL my aches and pains in having my children I mostly don't remember as terrible but as amazing that's all.Yeah it hurt and it was nine months but I know it was a long 9 months for him too. I know I was not easy to live with but I was very happy to be carrying our children..He put up with me and did try his best to do all he could to make me happy and I him also.

Yeah..He was a mechanic for 15 years. He can only sell 10 cars a year though..5 for him and 5 for my mom. He was going to start a used car dealership, but it took to much time.

IS there a limit on the amount of cars he can sell.. or is it because he does not have a dealership licence or something like that?
Title: DO YOU CHANGE YOUR OIL YOURSELF?
Post by: Simulated on 01/08/2007 17:25:50
Yep if you don't have a license you can't sell more then 5 cars a year. For each person. LoL. Pretty stupid, but oh well. He could sell 20 a year if he put them in my name and my sisters name, but he don't..
