Title: How do I make a 1 in 4 dilution?

If I wanted to make a 1 in 4 dilution do you use 50 microlitres in 350 microlitres?

How did you come up with the 350 number?

I don't understand your question, to make a one in four dilution, you should measure out three parts water and add to that one part stock solution, which will give a total of four parts.

If you added 50 into 350, that would be a 1 in 8 dilution (50/400). 50 parts in 350 is a 1 in 7 dilution (50/350). Its elementary maths. So you want a 1/4 therefore 50 should be added to 150 (50/200).

Water is always a 1 in 4 solution, it's just that the other 3 parts are water too!
