Why do glasses still help you see better when you flip them around (when you look through them front on)? Is this bad for my eyes?

The image looks just as clear and sharp as if I was wearing them normally.

I might suggest it's because the outer surface is scratched worse with age and the inside surface is less so. The flare would then be better when you briefly hold them the other way. There is also a possibility that, because all spectacle lenses tend to be curved away from your eye, the effect of flare could also be less with the concave surface on the outside. Why not have them normally curved the other way? You'd look darft.
