Title: Chronic neck pain..But MRI hasn't picked it up....
Post by: richyball on 08/07/2007 16:44:32
Hi...

I have chronic pain in my shoulder running up into the base of my neck just below my right ear,it is a constent pain which never goes away and slowly getting worse, i have had EVERYTHING, massage's,chiropracter,x-rays,blood tests, injection scan(putting fluid into area and taking a scan) and finally MRI scan, all of which have apparently come up negative. There was no reason for it starting i just woke up with it about 4 years ago and has never gone away. I am only 33 so it is a worry as it affects me day to day.
I have been living in thailand for the last 2 years and must admit the hot weather seemed to make a huge difference and it seemed to go away but the last 2 months it has come back..
I am not sure what it is, whether it is muscle damage, trapped nerve or what but i would assume that a MRI would have picked it up?????
My current health is im 33..about 14 stone, 6ft3, smoker and drinker..

I am due to come back to U.K very soon and the thought of having to work with this pain is a horrid thought so if anybody could give me any advice or indication or next course of action i would be very very grateful..

Thanks in advance

Rich

it's better now. one of my disks had slipped just slightly out of place and hit a nerve sending a very sharp pain down my leg. the fourth or fifth doctor i saw finally saw the problem on the original x ray
