My mrs just dealt with a glut of them (including one massive 2.5kg courgette!) by making a bucket full of courgette and potato soup. It'll keep for ages in the freezer, so you can have a break for now...
-
Hee hee hee!!!! LOL..LOL ..Never ever plant many zucchini plants they are prolific growers!
Or chopped and sliced for stir fries and batter fried zucchini, Shred it and freeze it in freezer bags, it keeps very well that way for Zucchini bread!
-
Cour...... gettes a lot you got! Did one of them go to Specsavers?
-
Don is that a store?
-
Yes Karen, they run TV ads with the slogan 'should have gone to Specsavers', some can can be quite comical.
http://www.specsavers.co.uk/ (http://www.specsavers.co.uk/) There are quite a few of their ads on youtube.
-
I would be proud to have courgettes that size ! [;)]
-
...erhmm..how about grating them, binding them with some grated potato (use an egg) and frying them ?.......the list of variations to add to this patty is endless....a big sprinkle of fresh parmesan in the mix will be yummy !
I wonder if ewe need to salt them first to get rid of a ton of liquid though !

Thats a nice fall colored quilt you have there to display your lovely zucchini on !
They get huge here like that and bigger!
Neil, you can avoid too much salt by doing what
I always do and press them in between a kitchen towel to absorb moisture after grating if The recipe needs to be less moist to hold together ..etc.. I will try that recipe Neily sounds good with parmesean.

Ewe can always rinse the salt off....this will not immediately replace the water...but I like the idea of squeezing it grated ....I suppose some flour will help absorb any excess if needed.
Yep, Paremesan will add a nice kick cos in MY opinion...courgette needs a lot of flavour added !....unless you're making a chilled cucumber and courgette soup !....which is nice and delicate...
-
I have never had a soup like that.. cold cucumber but not
zucchini... HUMMMMMM...Yes your right I never thought of
rinsing it and getting it wet again.... But you have a
nice point! LOL.. could rinse it.....
-
I think your idea is better though..it does add less salt and I just luff squeezing grated courgette...I think it's my new hobby !

I suspect marrows are the same a zucchini.
Chutney has the advantage that it lasts for (6) months.

I rather doubt it.

zucchini - marrow squash plant whose fruit are eaten when small
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/zucchini
If there is a difference I doubt anyone could tell after it has been soaking in chutney vinegar for a month.
Here is a similar recipe to the Channel4 one above but using "zucchini" ...

Good old recipe for marrow:
Chop and fry onion & garlic in a pan until onion turns translucent. Add minced beef, mushrooms, tomato puree and herbs. Fry gently until meat turns brown, then add a little beef stock.
Cut a marrow in half along its length and scoop out the seeds. Fill each half with the meat, wrap in foil and bake for about an hour at 200oC (gas mark 6 : 400oF).
Open the foil and sprinkle with bread crumbs and grated cheese and return to oven for 10 mins or until crumb/cheese has browned.
Serve with the juices and some boiled new potatoes.
Mmmm stuffed baked marrow.

Serpently Chinar:
Gaunfurra Danur = "Going for a stroll"
Zarra Marra Oanra Barra Clarra? Obviously, "Clarra, is that a marrow I see on the barrow?"
-
Gaunfurra Danur = "Going for a stroll"
Easily confused with ...
Gaunfurra Donner = "going for a kebab"
