How can I get back the my music musical note icon in the my music folder? It just went away awhile ago. And its bothering me. Its hard to distinguish between it and just a regular folder.
Thanks Sim :)

Did it happen when your computer was doing that weird stuff... I hope you don't have a virus... maybe George would know..
In the mean time do a search on your computer for one of the songs you had.. maybe it will find your folder!
-
It happened when I started downloading songs off of frostwire
-
OOOH i hope it didn't have a virus.. perhaps it just moved all your music to a frostwire folder? Check it out! some programs will move your music... when you use them.. Kind of takes over for your default music..folder

Your best bet is to do a simple search for music media or by naming one of the missing records using the windows search facility

Does that folder contain a system file which name is "Desktop.ini"? You must have the options "show hidden files" enabled and "hide extensions for known file kinds" disabled, to be able to see such a file.
You find such options in the menu: tool/folder options/display, of a windows' window.
If you don't have such a file in the folder "My Music", maybe you can create it. Inside the folder, mouse right click, then new/text document, then give it the name Desktop.txt", then you have to write something in it.
This is the content I have in such a file:
[DeleteOnCopy]
Owner=xxx
Personalized=13
PersonalizedName=Musica
[.ShellClassInfo]
InfoTip=@Shell32.dll,-12689
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
IconIndex=-237
where xxx is for the name I put (my surname, so for this reason I cannot show it here) as owner of the computer when I installed windows, so you have to write your corresponding name (or whatelse you put there).
After have saved that file, rename its extension from ".txt" to ".ini", so to have, finally, a file named "Desktop.ini" with that specific text inside, in your folder "My Music".
Tell me if you could solve anything in this way.

I'll come back to you on that. I need more time then the few minutse I have tonight
-
sorry i thought you had lost your music files , i didnt read properly :)

You have two choices customise that folder changing the icon to the one with the note or if it will not let you which is a possibility create a new one and customise that. Afterwards copying all your files into it.
Its quite simple to do
Rename your existing one to My Music1 by right clicking on it. That way its simple to revert the folder back to what it was if something goes wrong.
Then Create a new folder in my documents called My Music
Right click it and click on properties.
At the top click on customise and at the bottom of the new window a tab should say change icon.
in the new window scroll to the right until you find the icon you need , click on it and apply.
If after clicking on the change icon tab a window apppears showing no icons but instead asks you where to to look use the browse button and direct it to c:\windows\system32\SHELL32.dll
If you want to you can try customising the folder you already have but sometimes its good to test what your doing on something unimportant first until you are sure of what your doing.
-
Yeah it defiently won't let me rename it.
-
will it let you customise it.
-
yeah when i right click it there is this customize one.
-
wait no it don't i though it did?
-
ok, make a new folder in your documents and move your old disfunctional my music into it for safe keeping if it will let you.
Then make a new folder in my docs and name it my music then customise that . If everything goes well then copy or move your music into it.,
Plus when you right click ityou need to click on properties and then customise at the top in the new window
-
Ok I moved it and made a new my music folder
-
Wait der
ha
Thanks I knew i saw a customize link somewhere. Found it.
Thank you.
But I accidnely made a different folder have the music thing. Ha. Thanks der i'm sorry i made you like go threw all this extra stuff. thank you
-
Great now I can't find it back
-
Its finished now. THanks..
-
Alright, now its being stupid. Its happening everytime I downloaded music off of FrostWire (more or less LimeWire). And I keep having to change it back..
-
Well you know what the awnser to that is dont ya , if you want to keep the note on the folder get rid of frostwire
-
But but. Ha
I'll try one thing. I'll change the place that it downloads to. Then place them in my music folder. If that don't work. Um oh well I'll just keep wasting my time changing the folder back. :)
