Title: curly wurly cables
Post by: paul.fr on 13/05/2007 22:36:27
You know the sort, those you have on your telephone. Why is it impossible to get a kink out of the cable, no matter how had you try?

If you put the phone down exactly as you picked it up there would be no kinks.
Problem is that you pick it up in one hand, then transfer it to the other - this can produce one full rotation of the handset every phone call.
It's so hard to decide which way it has kinked that any attempt to undo it can make it worse even on a Sunny Sunday afternoon.

I find it's earier to get the kinks (and other 60's groups) out of the curly cables if you unplug the phone from the end first

I don't get that drastic - I just let the phone receiver drop, leave it dangling i the air while it unwinds all the kinks, pick it up and replace it.

Only slight problem is that as often as not by the time this has finished, BT has sent all sorts of wailing sounds down the phone line to let me know the phone receiver is off the hook.

I do the same thing.  Depends, though, in case your receiver cable is longer than your arm [:)].  The problem I have is when the cable has got so badly twisted that it has started twisting the other way!!

And Paul, you're not stupid [;)] I mean.. Theres tons more to know out there in this world than a typical stupid slinky which gets tangled and doesn't actually crawl down some stairs unless you buy some really expensive big good ones! Those pink plastic ones are useless.

seany slinkies are capable of being tangle free again, but they never work right after that and you have to be really determined to fix it!

NO.1= Go to radio shack or local electronic or telephone parts store .. for me Radio Shack and buy a $3.00 telephone cord swivel get two one for phone jack and one for hand set! Tangle free Handset phone chord! lOL

No.2= Next Slinkies are great and easy to untangle if you know how to do it! YSeany is right the cheap plastic ones stink. I sent a friend a couple slinkies for Christmas as I loved them.. you must work your way down one coil at a time and Voila! Untangled! LOL I have always been a slinky Girl and the stairs are great fun if you know how to slink! LOL

The metal ones rock! And they can be quit fun if you practice!

Mine work great after untangling.. I have been a loyal slinky kid since me was about three years old! LOL

They are great!

For a long time I have thought that phone cables were curled so it would prevent kinks and tangles.

Slinky's rock though.

Some people are like slinkys... not really good for anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
