Title: Intelligent life
Post by: ukmicky on 05/09/2005 03:42:18
Are we the first form of intelligence on earth? [:0]

Could there have been others before us.

If a previous intelligent life form could of existed, would there still be evidence of there presence if they died out a billion or more years ago.[:)]

I wonder.  There are some pretty old fossils that I suppose would cover any billion-year ago civilisation - would a steel girder fossilise as it rusted away in mud, for example?  And would civilisation necessarily involve steel girders?

ukmicky you had better define your meaning of intelligence first. If you mean something that is able to react from experience to a change in it's environment, and then actively meet it's needs, then humans are not the first or the last. Even within our own species life time we shared the globe with another intelligent hominid, possibly more! Dolphins and Apes are very intelligent; they have social organisation and language! What is intelligence? That question is hard to answer, as we only have our experience to go on.

wOw the world spins?

I  should of the defined what i meant. but it was late and i was tired.
Put simply an intelligence like ours. with a level of technology like ours or more advanced.

I am sorry, but according to the Federation encyclopedia, intelligent life will not exist on this plant for another several hundred years. Reference Arther C. Clark "Children of Tommorrow".

To understand that, you have to understand cricket.

what is cricket anyway?

Post by: Karen W. on 19/05/2007 15:03:09
It is England's  version of Baseball, Although I wonder if Baseball isn't a spin off of cricket instead of the other way around! I think cricket may have been first! I am not sure of the directions for play but there are some sites that tell you and show you animated games to help you understand!

Me too but I loved it.. LOL My sister lost two front teeth to the tooth fairy because of that game. I was drawing my mallet back to hit a long shot, and she walked up behind me a nd walked into the swing.. she was about 7 years old as I recall. Man I remember feeling horrible I did not want to play for a long time..because she got hurt!

my brother rode his bike right in front of my tennis racket once. i wonder sometimes if i didn't do more damage than a little bump on his head. lol

Post by: Karen W. on 19/05/2007 15:31:28
LOL.. I now know why kids get hurt like that.. Children see where they want to go, but they don't see what lies between them and where they are going, the are kind of unaware of the obstacles that lie between them and there destination.....so they inadvertently run into or trip over things on the way, because they have like tunnel vision.

my parents have tried everything to get him to do his work, short of strapping him down to a chair with a pencil.

My son failed a whole year and made it up in 2and 1/2 months.. It was not summer school. It was continuation, like and adult ed. He could go and they just had everything he had to complete in order to catch up, so he would work on it all day long and then because there was no time limit he could pick and choose what he did according to what he wanted to work on that day!

Yeah I did that to, up till the wee hours of the morning doing it with him.. big mistake he needs consequences and sometimes its hard to let a child fail, but really it is the best way for them to be able to be responsible for the work themselves.. When I washed my hands of it, and told him if he failed he lost all the privelidges he had.. at first he did not care, then he saw he was the only thing standing between him and what he wanted.. LOL He had to do it for himself.. and this school was rough, as far as the students that attended, kids were being arrested in the morning at drop off.. Scared the soup out of me leaving him there everyday!LOL.. I cried every time I left I had to pull over down the road cause I was so worried and disappointed in myself for not making him be responsible for his own work! It was horrible  really Horrible, but it was the best two and 1/2 months . He learned so much and realized his own potential.. The teachers there were incredible and told me. this school is for troubled teens .. as you know, and We think John is going to do wonderfully as he knows that he has no troubles like some of the students who were wonderful, but dearly troubled teenagers who needed less structured guidance but were made to be accountable for their work, nothing was allowed to come home for homework it was all done on the site so there was no excuses if they did not show they did not complete the class. He wanted out and saw the errors of his ways and made up for it on his own..

LOL

He has been working for several years now at a tire shop. He starts next week working for the same company as his Dad.. They are equipment operators.. His Dad is a truck driver.. but he figures 15 to 18 dollars an hour is better then 8 dollars an hour! LOL

I have never rented any movies off the internet, I don't know how.. Must learn.. LOL
