From time to time we read in the news about ladies who produce babies when they didn't know they were pregnant!
I have never been pregnant but I have known various ladies who have produced children and it seems incredible to me that anyone could go right through a pregnancy without even knowing they were pregnant - up until the baby arrives!
Does anyone know what medical condition causes some ladies' bodies not to register when there is a baby on the way?

This is a great question and I have wondered this many times myself.
I don't have an answer but I share in your bewilderment how some girlies can come to term without ever knowing they were preggy.
Lets hope a passing ' Im-preggy-but-don't-know-it ' expert passes by and gives birth to healthy 8lb answer !!

I knew a lady that happened too. She pulled green chain in a lumber mill right up until moments before she delivered . She thought she was sick to her stomach.. She had no clue she was pregnant and neither did we. She was tall decently slim and never showed.. She said she had gained weight, but she had been eating too much as she was starving all the time. I don't understand where the baby was , because we could not tell. she was still wearing her same jeans. she said they were tight, but she figured it was the weight gain. she felt fine. her periods had tappered off, but she was 5o years old.. LOL she thought she was starting the change and just spotting! LOL She was doubled over at work they called the ambulance she had a 5Lb 6 ounce baby girl born 15 minutes upon arriving at the hospital.. It was amazing and the baby was beautiful! LOL Amazing..

Speaking as a 46 year old mother of three, I don't either!!! LOL You are not alone in this lack of understanding. I can say with certainty that it has happened and that I still know the young baby girl, who is no longer a baby.. she is about 26 years old or so now days.. approximately. Her mom passed away two years ago! It was and still is amazing to me and I think about every time I see her!

LOL Yes I have had my three and believe me LOL I knew I was pregnant. Heres the rub.. She had three older children, two were adults at this time the other an older teenager. She still did not show at all and still had no clue she was pregnant. Said she never felt movement or any of the other obvious symptoms of nine months of pregnancy! LOL I believe she was being honest.. I know for a fact she was shocked to death, because she tried to refuse the doctors attempts to tell her she was having a baby and it was happening right then! It was crazy she had no idae and was totally taken aback by it! BTW No offense taken!

BTW Just because one has sex, doesn't mean you should assume pregnancy..LOL! You assume pregnancy when you have missed your period, feel nausiated have to pee contantly and tummy bulge none of which she had!And you are younger then 50 years old!LOL. She had gained ten pounds over what she would have considered the coarse of a year,, turned out it was 9 months!

On this modern day as we live liberally, there are 9 ladies out of ten who are involved for an early sex activities and five out of them got pregnant. a pregnant woman can notice some changes in her body. She will have to experience a lot of adjustments when her belly will start to enlarge.

Someone I know gave birth in their own hallway with their Dad as midwife, claiming that they "didn't know they were pregnant".
I have always found stories like this hard to believe, and harder still now since my wife and I have had two children and, watching her belly jump about all over the place there's no way you could mistake foetal movements...

I have seen it with my own eyes and Ellen said she never felt the baby move and she was skinny you absolutely could not tell and she worked in a mill pulling Green Chain....a mans job.. I think the baby was so compressed in there that she just could not tell. she was older when she had her also.

I did know one woman who was 7 months before she found out ( went to doc for another reason and he broke the news to her then.
Though I have to admit she was not the brightest bulb, the original ditzy blonde or a very close copy.

My mother was at the end of her 2nd trimester when she discovered she was pregnant with me, she had another child prematurely and was breastfeeding her so it can happen [:o]

Doctors always recommends breastfeeding to mothers. This is the best milk to be given to baby. It also connects a very good connection between the mother and the child.

Ironic but think. Everyone has their individual senses some more acute and some less. Besides Divine intervention, the woman may have never felt the wee bit of the man close to her.
Morning sickness will be assumed to be the flu. The woman may thing she is gaining wait or getting more fluid because she slowed down doing her exercises. Her eating habits may always been weird, so that would'nt be a good signal, Baby moving in that area can seem like a hunger crave and the bally bubbles . Ignorance is bliss. Then that water break can not be ignored.
With great surprise your dragging around an offset weight you did not know you had for the last 9 mo.
The last one to know is usually the dad, as she says here hold this while I make change for the bus.

It's not uncommon to have bleeding throughout pregnancy, usually on and off, and many of the symptoms of pregnancy can masquerade as other things, the menopause for a start.There have been some stories of women too scared to go to the Doctor because they felt they had cancer or something else really seriously wrong with them. Some woman don't get morning sickness or much weight gain, and some babies sit towards the back, meaning not much of a bump shows, particularly if the woman is overweight anyway.
And of course there is a small percentage of women who go into denial with it, until they are actually giving birth.

..and when the baby starts kicking ?..moving about ?..is this down to indigestion ?....I suppose, if the baby is sitting back then perhaps movements such as kicking would not be so obvious !

Us men will never experience that wonderful gift of life, TG. Tell you the truth that type of force times distance may be the biggest event in two connecting individual people.
Some woman explain their experience as a grusome physical pain, equating it to a man passing a kidney stone. Others say it was like a spit in a bucket.
I rather have a clam daily experience at a DMZ, and take my chances.
Praise the woman of the world that have this choose to suffer to be a natural mom.

Personally I can't see what all the fuss is about...all they have to do is lie there and push !!..sheesh !!....Last week I grazed my finger and it was sore for a few days..it was that bad !!...now THAT was suffering !!
