adrenal cortex ?
« on: 07/06/2004 21:58:48 »
Here is a quick question to help me clarify something concerning my next biochemistry exam.

In Guyton ( ed. 9 ) says:
Zona glomerulosa secretes mineralcorticoids ( ALDOSTERON )
Zona fasciculata and Zona reticularis both secrete Glukocorticoids (KORTISOL) and androgen chormones.

In some other books says:

Zona glomerulosa secretes mineralcorticoids
Zona fasciculata secretes glucocorticoids
Zona reticularis secretes androgens

Which is true ?

The latter
I remember it as GFR (as in the kidney), from the outside in, gettering sweeter the deeper.

Glomerulosa - mineralocorticoids
Fasiculata - Glucocorticoids
Reticularis - sex steroids
