Oh, they're flowers alright - it's just that they don't 'repair the damage' in the same way that roses or lilies are supposed to. Possibly because they're cheap.

Blimey - what do these women want? ;)

You guys still don't know a girl's best frieds? Everlasting and never diminishing in value?

Really - no hope   [V] [V] [V]

Carnations are just something you give to your mother in law, no wife or girlfriend wants those!

I have had spider mums last for a couple of weeks, and they're pretty.

I love carnation and mixed bouquets they are beautiful! I love roses also... but roses, carnations, zinnias, pin cushion's.. daisies ..I love  daffodil's, lilies,
everything basically just love flowers of all varieties and would always welcome them.. especially the ones that smell so fragrant!

I heard that that was to reduce the staining that is possible from the pollen.

There are plenty of cut flowers that can last for many months - there are some very pretty thistles and grasses as well as other flowers that dry very well, and retain much of their original colour (though not scent).

Your correct about the staining.. also if you refrigerate your lilies and flowers during the night.. or put them out in the protected cold at night.. they will last longer.

In all the years I have been married I never ever received flowers as an apology or a way to make amends .. very rarely even got an I'm sorry..

Any flowers are nice...but simply receiving a nice hug and I love you would have sufficed on many occasions... Hindsight is an awful thing sometimes... so is foresight!

elegantlywasted, what are spider mums - are they a sort of chrysanthemum?
Yes they are a Chrysanthemum, I'm not sure which species though, here is a link to a picture http://qualityflowers.com/Images/SpiderMum.html

Hi
Alstroemeria has a long vase life of up to two weeks and this Alstromeria are available in a wide variety of colors, and some are streaked with contrasting colors..
And Chrysanthemums are long-lasting, with a vase life of one to three weeks.
Freesia is a fragrant flower, funnel shaped, and branches off the main stem asymmetrically. Freesia is available in many colors and has a seven- to 10-day vase life....These three are best long vase life flowers ....
