I was noting that if I tell my big toe to raise up, that not only does the big toe

come up, but the others to. I cant just wave my baby toe like my pinkie finger no

matter how hard I try! :o ??? ???

Have you ever noticed that or is it just me?? Can you make one toe stand up and take

another down ??? Does the foot work differently? ??? ???

It's a matter of practise really - LOL. I like to wriggle my toes; always have done

My dad used to tell me the better you can use your toes the closer you are to monkeys.
I then in return answered that if that were the case then his father would have just about climbed down from the trees.

As Monika says, it is partly practice; but I suspect that walking on your feet causes changes in the shape of your feet that does restrict its movement somewhat.

I can fairly freely move my big toe, and have a very little independent movement in my little toe, but no independent movement in the remaining toes.

On the other hand, the big toe (particularly if you are walking barefoot a lot) does require a certain amount of independent control (that control also makes driving barefoot a lot easier).

I have less control and I move them a lot but individually it is difficult if not impossible for me at this point! I must then Practice Practice practice!

How much do you think this depends on the use of training ones brain to coordinate with ones toes in a way that it is unused to doing?

Not sure - especially in later years - might be easier when one is a baby.

It's all down to practice. Notice how some people can move one eyebrow at a time, whilst most can not. This is the same with toes, eyes and ears.

I have met a young women with no arms who uses her feet for everything.. she has incredible control but she was born without arms so has never had that and has always had only her feet. It is amazing what she does with her feet and toes.
