Menstrual cycle..
« on: 30/11/2007 16:28:44 »
Hey..I got a few questions about the menstrual cycle..My knowledge on this isnt at an expert level..but i have quite a faint idea.
Okay..here goes

An egg is realesed from the womb,
This egg travels through the fallopian tubes,
I dont know where it goes next?
The womb then pads out the route of the egg with blood,
The time it takes for this egg to get to the vagina is around about one month
Once it is time for the egg to exit, the blood padding is realesed?

Am i right?

(Im talking about a non pregnatic period here  :P)

One last question.

The hymen. If a girl uses a tampon, does this mean it could break the hymen?

Thanks guys!

The egg does not normally reach the vagina, but rather would reach the uterus.

The blood does not pad out the route of the egg (which travels down the fallopian tube), but pads out the uterus, ready to have the fertilised egg implanted into it.  If the egg does not get fertilised in a reasonable period, the uterus gets fed up waiting, and thinks 'enough of this melarchy', and just dumps all the extra blood it has accumulated, as it realises it is not going to need it this month - but next month is another matter.

Although the hymen can be accidentally broken by all sorts of physical exertion, have never heard of the insertion of a soft, absorbent, tampon is really likely to do it.

Aren't a lot of women pregnant every month, and never know? I think so. Something about the egg being "too wrong", which is then expelled.

I don't know the exact reasons for the spontaneous abortions within the first month of pregnancy, but yes, a very large number of pregnancies are in fact aborted before the mother even realises she is pregnant, and she simply believes she is having great difficulty becoming pregnant, when in fact the pregnancies are happening, but spontaneously aborting before they show themselves.

This overlaps the other thread on abortion.
