Alrighty I played Monopoly last night..
« on: 31/12/2007 16:04:22 »
And well. We started the game like its supposed to be started. We play people start buying properties and landing on go to jail and free parking and going past go and all that good stuff. Dad ends up getting both the utilites, all the rail roads, all the red properties. Mom gets a few odds and end ones. My sister got all of one set (don't remember which). While I only got Boardwalk and Park Place. By the time an hour rolled around mom was out. And then after another turn of the clock I had hotels on both my properties and dad got hotels on his red set. Dad had well over 4,000 dollars in properties and money. We were all going crazy at this point. lol. It was a matter of time before one of us three got out. But what was really something I can't beileve was Dad went around the board 3 times and landed on boardwalk all three times. lol. So there's 6000 dollars in my pocket lol. And then the next time my sister went around she landed on boardwalk. They are all like what the heck? And by that time I already fell on the floor dieing of laughter.

Plus we added up all the money and properties I collected and I got 11,600 dollars. While guess how much the bank had left. 8,881 dollars lol. I beat the bank lol. Now tell me how the heck that's possible. I only had two properties the WHOLE TIME lol.

Wow That jsut can't be true even thouhg it happened right there in front of my eyes.

We played Monopoly all my life growing up. My brother always kicked my behind! I liked the silly orange properties, St James etc.. and he always had the park place ones like you!

It is weird, I mean what are the odds? It happens to lots of people like that. Its weird cause there are only two properties on that set..it is really weird!

only two properties but they are good ones. For most people one landing on Mayfair with a hotel will break them. Statistically, if you play the game long enough you are bound to get everyone land on those last two properties.

I am with you, though, I always buy those two and the two at the very beginning, they can be pretty good money earners. My theory is that if you try to own a couple of corners (two sets that go around the corner) you are going to do ok.

Congratulations on your Monopolisation!

I have a big book about Monopoly by Giles Brandeth. The Orange ones are the ones to get, followed by the light blues. I also have quite a few sets but the Atlanta City set is the standard.

If you play by the proper rules, it is a great game. However a few strange rules, that people have made up, have crept in to some peoples way of playing the game.

Light blues are worthless though.

But they don't cost much to develop and can be real trouble when people pass go.

Isn't it ironic that you have a Scrabble dictionary but can't spell SCRABBLE or DICTIONARY!
