Don't know the answer to your question....but I never would've pegged you for wanting a tattoo.  Learn something new every day. ;)

I am assuming she is worried about infection!

Are you one any anti-coagulants, or blood thinning medication?  They might be worried about bleeding problems.

Also, it may just be a legal liability issue - the insurance company does not want the risk that if you die while the work is done, even if it was not caused by the work, there may be awkward questions to answer.

That too had crossed my mind, but not sure how relevant that is to heart conditions as such (although ofcourse your situation is more complex than a simple heart condition).

Could be medications, could be insurance, could be infection control... are you sure she said "can't" or did she just strongly advise against it?

Yes, but many many other meds too. She said that I could not risk having a tattoo with my heart problems..I asked what about later after surgeries she said no. I never pushed it and just assumed it was maybe her worrying about infection. I thought there was not much blood involved. I know some but not how much.

I never thought about the anticoagulants.

It is not an insurance problem unless I was hurt. It would have been me paying cash rather then insurance!

Well a tattoo is getting a scratch from a needle. You do bleed, but it's generally not excessive. She's being cautious maybe.. perhaps duly so, who knows?

what were you thinking of getting?

I like critters and flowers so I was thinking of a few things, but I will not at this point. I would bleed a lot right now because of blood thinners.

I wanted something small and dainty on my ankle!
