lion marked eggs
« on: 17/08/2004 20:24:18 »
Hi All,

I wonder if someone can clear up a query about eggs.  In the UK they reintroduced the lion mark on eggs and I've been told that this was because the eggs were guaranteed salmonella (sp?) free.  If this is the case, why am I being told that I must boil eggs for 13 minutes for my baby daughter?

I don't know much (as is plainly obvious when you read my postings) but I know that horrible things like salmonella (i think) and others reside in the yolk and for expectant mothers and babies you must abso make sure that it's fully cooked...I'm sure you'll receive further advice from the lovely medical people here.....in any case, even though an egg may be guaranteed to be salmonella free, it's prudent to err on the side of caution anyway.....good luck with your baby......I've got three kids...want one of mine ?.....please !!!...pretty please !!!! I guess young children and the elderly are more at risk of contracting any nasties than bigger or healthier people so its probably as neil says, just to be cautious. They cover their backs then i suppose, as in nothing is likely to survive after a 13 minute boil so people wont sue. I like my eggs nice and runny!!!

lol!!!  I never NEVER realised what having a baby meant.  i'll pass on any extras at the mo thanks.

shame about the eggs though- hows a baby to know the joys of soldiers in a chucky egg?

and now i don't want to lower the tone.....but i will anyway.....chickens eggs come out of their bums?!?  how does that work?  i don't want to elaborate too much...probably gone too far already!

Hey, you can't cook eggs that long -- the yolks will get that funny gray-green color!
