You might have Windows Movie Maker in Accessories..  (XP)

It is not too easy to use but I have used it to crop vidoes.

You're now talking to the video software expert  [^]

It's a doddle in MovieMaker.

When you import a video to MM it will split it into clips. Drag the original clip you want to cut the bit out from into the view area on the right. Go to roughly where you want to crop and use the frame stepper to get the exact spot. Click the cut button. In the frames list you'll see the clip you cropped split into 2 parts. Then go to the end of the part you want to crop and do the same. Your clip will now be in 3 parts. Move the 1st & 3rd parts to the storyboard at the bottom and it's done.

The problem comes if what you want to cut spans more than 1 clip. If that's the case, use Shift-click to select all the clips concerned, then from the CLIPS menu select "combine clips". That will re-join all the separate clips so long as they are contiguous and continuous. Now drag the combined clip into the view area and do what I said above.

It may sound complicated, but once you try it you'll see that it's actually pretty easy.

To make the finished product look nicer, you can add a transition where you cropped the frames from.

Another program you can try is Zweistein http://www.thugsatbay.com/tab/?q=zweistein
