Elastic bands were invented today in 1845. Can't think of the guys name that did the inventing but does anyone know the story of how he came to invent them?

Stephen Perry invented them..and there is surprisingly little information out there about him..

I can't find much more than this from wiki.....the same limited information is repeated on various other sites too...............

.19th century British inventor and businessman. His corporation was the Messers Perry and Co, Rubber Co Manuf London, which made early products from vulcanized rubber. On March 17, 1845, Perry patented the rubber band

Yes that is all I can find. I'm doing a show about elastic properties and like to put in stories about how things were invented as It makes the inventor real. Oh well!

Can't help you with that but you might want to mention Robert Hooke's "differences of opinion" with Newton if you are discussing elasticity.
