They sound like the old type of rattle you used to take to the football, but why?

The voltage at the electrodes of a TASER is thousands of volts. The spark produced heats the air by thousands of degrees.
The rapid expansion of the heated air is what produces the clicking sound. This is analogous to a thunder crack produced by lightning.

Apparently canines are immune ...

Devil dog laughs in the face of Taser
And gets shot for its trouble

A Saarf London teen's Staffordshire Bull Terrier was earlier this week shot dead by police after an attempt to subdue the devil mutt with a Taser failed to stop it in its tracks.

According to the Telegraph, officers confronted the 13-year-old lad's "dangerous" animal on the mean streets of Croydon on Monday night. A Scotland Yard spokesman explained: "On attendance police tried to detain the animal with two officers suffering from minor injuries due to the dog's aggressiveness."

Having expended 50,000 volts on the cantankerous canine, officers were forced to call for armed backed-up who popped a cap in the pooch's anti-social arse. The injured coppers "did not require hospital treatment".

The deceased dog's owner was cuffed for "possession of a dangerous dog in a public place" and later bailed pending further enquiries.

Where do you have to go to hear the sound of a Tazer? It's not something I encounterin the normal course of events. Now, a sawn-off shotgun . . . . .

Poor dog and a typical OTT response from the cops!

Its the owners that are irresponsible and don't train the dogs right. Some think it cool to make them aggressive or use them as as attack weapons just like the police do!

I have owned Staffs for years and have never had any problems with them being aggressive but they were very well trained.
