That's where he sees women, out in fields!

Nice list Don 1 but again no women. There are plenty of funny ladies out there.
When you say Steven wright are you talking about radio 2 Steve Wright, in the afternoon?

No, not that Steve Wright, the American comic Steven Wright.

As for the lack of women comics, I must confess I don't think there are any I would want to include, I just don't find them very funny. Saunders & French - not funny as comics, not funny when together, but as comedy actresses (apart) they can be hilarious. Ab Fab & The Vicar of Dibley are great fav's of mine.

It was rather remiss of me to miss out Jo Brand though and I pondered on Sandy Toksvig, but decided she is more satirist than comic.

Could't Sandy Toksvig be allowed on both list?

Each of these people on your list deserves their own thread in this part of the forum. I think this may have been one of the reasons your thread received negativity. One should not put all of them together because each person had a truly different and unique line of thought and direction, which is why they are indeed great people and should be remembered even if some of their discoveries are later built upon as this is the nature of science.

Bickering and ranting over each others posts on the forum has been developing over the last year.

We have a wonderful forum here and etiquette, consideration, toleration politeness, courtesy and humility are what keep our forum free from disruptive influence, which often destroys them.

So instead of being negative in your replies to a post, try being constructive as this is definitely the way forward for everyone.

As for women scientists, each can be given their own thread too, as this is the reason for having this remembrance thread. So rather than stating there are none in the list, may I suggest you post more about these great minds and share them with everyone.

Andrew

Yes Sandy Toksvig, Julie Walters, Victoria Wood should be inclluded on the list. As for Americans sorry I can't recall any now.

Sharon that's nice and what about the British female impressionist Jan Ravens, who has acted with the RSC (Royal Shakepeare Company) too. Anne Reid as well there are so many good british female good comedians and actreses.

She is - there are two Iranian comedians; one is a man, Omid Djalili, the other is a woman, Tissa Hami - though I agree she is an American-Iranian.

There are three actually - the third is that president of theirs who comes out with Delphic stuff about obliterating people in the West.  :o

The joke is on him as he has very little power as it's all run by the clergy - a bit like us in the  fourteenth-century.

I saw her live once - very tedious. She stopped being funny when she became famous.

I quite enjoy watching men being forced into chick flicks by their girlfriends. The best was sex in the city, just one man in the whole cinema. The man just sat with his head in his hands and when he got up to leave at the end the whole cinema gave him a round of applause.

I'm in trouble!

My Mrs wanted to see the Sound of Music stage play/musical.

I can't sit through that mind numbing rubbish. I saw the film once and was bored out of my mind.

I just can't stand musicals.
