I think Lodge and Siemen's devices were just acoustic.. Like a horn on a grammophone.

It could be said that Bell heard Watson with his receiver device on a table so that was the first speaker.

I have heard that Rice and Kellog invented the modern moving coil speaker in 1925..  The type we use today.
