What happens to the brain when we dream?
« on: 09/10/2008 03:32:46 »
i have read that when you dream that the brain is expanding its ability to learn and understand concepts and data.

I have also read that a dream is just a past experience or things that have happened in the day repeated over again in the subconscious .

please tell me your input on the subject.

                               thanks allot

there are brain systems in place referred to as "mirror" neurons, neural networks and neural systems. They function as an ongoing but unaware correlate to those systems we are aware of during states of consciousness. it is during sleep that those systems have the upeer hand as they are not interfered with by reality and therefore have the freedom to transform any prior experience into any phantasmagorical variety we are familiar with as dreams

Dege, I once had a dream which I could only explain as pre-cognitive. I dreamt of a University I had never seen before. It was so strange that I sketched the building and its high view of a well-populated valley on a pad. A year later, I visited the University and it had an amazing resemblance to the dream that I sketched.

I'm very skeptical when it comes to the "extrasensory", but I have no other explanation for this dream.

yes, i would not know how to explain that either. that just goes to show you that there is allot to the brain that people will never understand.

OK so my next question is why is it that you have a dream some nights and not some other nights?

When we dream it's our subconscious of our brains at work sorting out the previous days concern that we can't do awake.
