RSS problem
« on: 22/10/2008 08:59:54 »
I have the RSS feed on my Igoogle page but when I click on a podcast link I get the following error:-
DNS error - cannot find server.
I don't have any problem with other feeds and it has been like this for ages, if I go to the website then download the mp3 there is no problem.
It's been annoying me so I thought I would register on the forum and bring it to the attention of someone.
So I have.  ???

Thanks for letting us know - We'll look into it.  Is it just the Naked Scientists Podcast feed, or does the same thing happen for the enhanced pod, or Ask the naked scientists?

I've not tested the RSS reader in Igoogle, so I shall do now - is it just Google reader you use, or one of the others?

I couldn't find an RSS reader on my Igoogle page!  But with the google RSS reader, we've worked it out.  The google reader is reading the <uniqueID> tag in the xml file instead of the <enclosure> or <link> tags, either of which would lead you straight to the showpage. Thanks for pointing it out, we'll see if we can get it fixed.  I assume it's the same for the integral reader.

Our xml is fine as far as we know (it works in other rss readers and podcast aggregators), so we're waiting on google for advice/for them to fix it.  Sorry about that.
