A third advantage is that the eye test chart has to be a mirror image so it's less likely that people will  "remember" what it says rather than read it.
I think the question was referring to 'eye testing'.
There are two advantages in using a mirror (plane, usually).
Firstly, the operator can change the chart and play with the prescription in the test glasses in the same place (the chart can be placed just behind the person being tested).
Secondly, the room only needs to be half the length of the full distance needed for viewing the test chart because the image depth is the same as the object distance.
