What are our eyeballs made of?

How big (in diameter) are our eyeballs? What are they made of? Do they grow? Why/why not? What are the blood vessels for (at least I think there are blood vessels ???)

Most of the eye's volume is a transparent gelatinous substance: the vitreous humour ...
