That's a great photo Roaslind. I love onions.

The photo I took is of a lake just a minutes walk from me, it was mostly frozen over so I had to take a piccy. The sun looks so nice in it.

Hmmm..I think I want some french onion soup !

thanks, Neil but I have not seen that French Onion seller since
Christmas 07. Perhaps he was trying to make some extra Xmas money.

Clever Neily, to catch such a good pic just like that

There's an LG phone being advertised here that's got 8MPx. That's absurd for a phone!

My mobile phone's got 1.3 megapixels, it is a Nokia one.
I've had since July 07. I seem to delete most of my mobile phone
pics.

I still take black and white photos on my big old Pentax camera from time to time. It came on the ark with Noah!

I have a 2 x 3 inch Speed Graphic by Graplex but the bellows have a pin hole light leak so it is useless at present. It is a rather versitale little camera, able to use sheet film or 120 roll film with the adaptor back. I also have older 35 mm film cameras with many lenses, filters etc. - up to a 400X with its own tripod. The big problem, none of this will fit onto any of the new hi-end digital cameras by Nikon or Cannon. All the lenses are Pentax screw mount.

I have a small $300 Cannon 8 Megapixel camera that is rather versatile but much less straightforward than the older film cameras but, when you learn how to use it, is capable of most, but not all, of what a film camera is able to do. I just can't see spending te cash to get the system I already have.

I am in the market for a conversion sub from Pentax to Cannon mount adapter. Then I'll be set.

As for my phone, the subject of this thread, I have a high end Blackberry sans camera. to quote the Great Sheep Goddess, Neil, le sigh!

Whatever happened to the Ram God of the Egyptians and other peoples????

There is a company in the UK called SRB who make adapters to fit Pentax screw (M42) lenses to modern SLR bodies
http://www.srb-griturn.com/m42-lenses-on-canon-eos-224-p.asp

Unfortunately these adapters do not have automatic diaphragm stop-down, (i.e. your view through the lens is at the taking aperture, so can be very dim at small apertures).
If you have an extreme lens in M42 screw mount (e.g. long-telephoto, large aperture) it may be worth the cost of buying an adapter to use it on a digital SLR rather than buying an expensive new extreme lens.

NB: some of these adapters (not the M42 to Cannon EOS) include a diverging lens to allow infinity focus, this lens can reduce image quality somewhat and increase the effective focal length. There is also an unavoidable decrease in viewing angle when fitting any 35mm lens to a digital camera because the digital sensor chip is smaller than the 35mm frame.
So your 400mm lens will give the view of a 600mm lens when fitted to a digital SLR.
