Because Jose Emanuel Deigo Candel was burned at the stake during the Spanish Inquisition??

I did find a nice science experiment, though. I am posting it under Physics Discussion so that the science can be discussed and explained.

Nice clip RD

I am afraid that the answer is completely non M.P related in that it is in fact very logical and rational.....unlike my bottom !

Well I don't know why you would want to take a match to these guys; CANDEL Canadian Committee on the Dynamics and Evolution of the Lithosphere.

I know that a candal is a DNA marker too but do you light them?

Talking of upside down things, I just saw the Thatcher illusion on Qi ...

Quote
The effect is illustrated by two originally identical photos, which are inverted. The second picture is obviously (and quite grotesquely) altered so that the eyes and mouth are vertically flipped, though the changes are not immediately obvious until the image is viewed in normal orientation.

This is thought to be due to specific psychological processes involved in face perception which are tuned especially to upright faces. Faces seem unique despite the fact that they are very similar. It has been hypothesised that we develop specific processes to differentiate between faces that rely as much on the configuration (the structural relationship between individual features on the face) as the details of individual face features, such as the eyes, nose and mouth. When a face is upside down, the configural processing cannot take place, and so minor differences are more difficult to detect.

This effect is not present in people who have some forms of prosopagnosia, a disorder where face processing is impaired, usually acquired after brain injury or illness. This suggests that their specific brain injury may damage the process that analyses facial structures.

If the number in the lower left corner is the check, pardon me - the Britis, hurmph! - cheque number, it is check number 147.

In the US the confusion is done away with as the cheque number is not put with the rest of the banking info on the bottom of a ewe - er, cheque - but is located in the upper right hand corner for easier handling by the customer. It is also repeated on the bottom line as well, but we do things much more sanely here in the US.

Neil make these a tad more difficult. I had to type all of this in without thinking too much. I need a decent challenge.

BTW, should the middle number be the check - no, cheque! number, everyone is screwed with the hint given.

Well Done JimBob,  ;D

I had to make this weeks one easy for ewe as ewe failed so miserably on last weeks one. Only RD saved the day !

Next weeks installemnt will be much harder !

The middle number is the bank sort code....a number specific to one branch and one branch only.....

I thought the only person who can get cheques out of a sheeps bum is a vet.

Neil is the exception. He is also Chancellor of the Ex-cheque-r.

Actually, my furry arse is on standyby should the exchequer decide they need to print more money. My pert cheeks make for a wondrous travelling branch of the Royal Mint.

I am ready to deliver much needed funds when called upon to do so. FAB !

The Royal Mint? Running that now, too, Neil? Well, Neil "Issac" Ep, any theories about The Principals of Mathematics or movement or heavenly bodies - no, not Shazza - Jupiter, Mars, Pluto - all those male gods.

(By the way, has anyone noticed that the only planet named after a woman is so acidic it could turn you to a vaporous liquid almost instantly?)
