The most recent findings indicate that it is a true statement. However, not everyone is convinced. I suspect that the effects of gravity propagate at the speed of light.

I have also heard that gravity operates at C. If the sun suddenly vanished, the earth would not feel the effect of this for a further 8 minutes.
